Spellbook of Life | Decks and Tips

Banish 1 Spellcaster-Type monster from your Graveyard and reveal 1 other "Spellbook" Spell Card in your hand to target 1 Spellcaster-Type monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target in face-up Attack Position and equip it with this card. The equipped monster's Level is increased by the Level of the monster that was banished for this card's activation. You can only activate 1 "Spellbook of Life" per turn.

• Allows you to Special Summon 1 Spellcaster-type monster from your Graveyard, by banishing 1 other Spellcaster-type monster from your Graveyard.
• Increases the Level of the Special Summoned monster by the Level of the Spellcaster-type monster that was banished.

• You need to reveal another “Spellbook” Spell card other than Spellbook of Life as a cost to use this card.
• You need to banish 1 Spellcaster-type monster from your Graveyard as cost to use this card.
• Equips itself to the Special Summoned Spellcaster-type monster, which in turn may clog your backrow.

• The level increase effect is actually used for XYZ summons, which may not seem appealing now due to the current format.
• Since equipped effect only increases the Special Summoned Spellcaster-type monster’s Level, you can ignore the level increase benefit, and make use of the Equipped Spellbook of Life by using cards like Release Restraint Wave, Double Cyclone, Parallel Twister, Storm, that normally requires destroying your Spell/Trap card(s) as cost to trigger their effects. Your Special Summoned Spellcaster-type monster is not destroyed when Spellbook of Life is sent to the Graveyard this way.

If your Special Summoned monster is higher than level 7, after you apply Spellbook of Life’s level increasing effect, you can use Diffusion Wave Motion to allow that monster to attack all your opponent’s monsters 1 time during your Battle Phase.

You can fill your Graveyard with Spellcaster-type monsters faster by using this card.

If you have Dark Magician in your Graveyard, you can Normal Summon Legion of Fiend Jester, use its effect to Tribute Summon Dark Magician Girl, and then activate Spellbook of Life to banish Legion of Fiend Jester from your Graveyard, to Special Summon Dark Magician to the Field in ATK mode. Alternatively, you can Tribute summon D.D.M. - Different Dimension Master instead of Dark Magician Girl, and discard 1 Spell card to use D.D.M. - Different Dimension Master’s effect to return Legion of Fiend Jester from the banished zone to the Field.
