Tarotrei is a ritual monster with a quick effect to flip a monster up or down. While it's already good on its own to disrupt your opponent, it also works well with other flip effect monsters to make them activate faster. Together with Deus-X-Krawler, the deck can have a continuous effect that prevents all activated monster effects on your opponent's field.

Master of Rites Can be used each time your Life Points decrease by 1000. This Skill can only be used twice per Duel. Return 1 card from your hand to your Deck and choose 1 of the following: • Add random Ritual Monster to your hand from your deck. • Add random Ritual Spell Card to your hand from your deck. | Maximillion Pegasus |
Prediction Princess Tarotrei | LIGHT Fairy ★9 ATK 2700 / DEF 1200 |
Chaotic Soldiers [R] | |
You can Ritual Summon this card with "Prediction Ritual". Once per turn, during your End Phase: You can Special Summon 1 Flip monster from your hand or Graveyard in face-down Defense Position. You can only use 1 of the following effects of "Prediction Princess Tarotrei" per turn, and only once that turn. ● During either player's turn: You can target 1 face-down monster on the field; change it to face-up Attack Position. ● During either player's turn: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field; change it to face-down Defense Position. |
Has a flip-up or down as a quick effect every turn, but it's a hard once per turn effect, so having 2 on the field won't be useful.
You can freely ritual summon this using Deus-X-Krawler or Ultramafus since Tarotrei can special summon them during your end phase. Summon them face-down so that you can activate their flip effects to disrupt your opponent. Alternatively, you can save Tarotrei's effect to flip your opponent's monster instead, or flip itself down to avoid dangerous effects.
If your opponent uses something like Floodgate Trap Hole when you ritual summon this, you can chain Tarotrei's effect to flip itself face down so you don't get locked up, same with Fiendish Chain. However, doing this will mean that you won't special summon a flip monster during your end phase.
Prediction Ritual | Ritual Spell |
Chaotic Soldiers [N] | |
This card is used to Ritual Summon "Prediction Princess Tarotrei". You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal 9 or more. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Prediction Princess" monster from your Deck to your hand. |
Standard ritual spell, but comes with a small recovery effect for Tarotrei if they're both in the graveyard. This just makes using a Tarotrei as the cost to ritual summon another one is not that bad of an option.
Manju of the Ten Thousand Hands | LIGHT Fairy ★4 ATK 1400 / DEF 1000 |
Maximum Gustav [SR] | |
When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: You can add 1 Ritual Monster or 1 Ritual Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. |
Helps get Tarotrei or the ritual spell from the deck without having to rely on the skill.
Having this essentially means you have 4 copies of the ritual monster/spell, but it can end up competing for the normal summon spot with Spirit of the Fall Wind.
Spirit of the Fall Wind | WIND Fairy ★4 ATK 1800 / DEF 900 |
Chaotic Soldiers [SR] | |
If this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 Flip monster from your Deck to your hand. |
Searcher for Deus-X-Krawler and Ultramafus so they can be used as ritual fodder and later be summoned by Tarotrei's effect.
Deus-X-Krawler is a safe pick if you get turn 1 since it can negate monsters your opponent summons to prevent combos, while Ultramafus is if your opponent already has multiple monsters and you want to flip them all down.
Deus-X-Krawler | EARTH Insect ★9 ATK 2000 / DEF 3000 |
Blazing Rose [UR] | |
When your opponent activates a card or effect that targets this face-down monster (Quick Effect): You can change this card to face-up Defense Position; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. After this card was flipped face-up, while it is in the Monster Zone, negate all monster effects activated on your opponent's field. If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can add, from your Deck to your hand, 1 Level 9 monster with a different original Type and Attribute than this card. You can only use this effect of "Deus X-Krawler" once per turn. |
The effect of negating activated effects is essentially continuous, as long as it was flipped face-up. This just means that you need to special summon this from the grave with Tarotrei's effect face-down, then use Tarotrei's effect to flip it up.
When it's destroyed, you can search for another Tarotrei from your deck.
Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus | EARTH Pyro ★10 ATK 3000 / DEF 1800 |
Blazing Rose [R] | |
FLIP: You can change all other face-up monsters on the field to face-down Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus" once per turn. When a face-up monster you control is flipped face-down, if you control no face-up monsters: You can Special Summon this card from your hand in Defense Position. Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position. |
This can be special summoned from your hand if you flip your Tarotrei face-down without having any other face-up monsters, which can happen if you're in a bad spot and your opponent tries to target your Tarotrei when you summon it. The easier way to special summon this is to just wait for Tarotrei's end phase effect.
Ultramafus has a pretty strong effect since it can flip all monsters to face-down. This can remove equip cards, prevent multiple monsters from attacking, or prevent a dangerous combo from your opponent.
Cosmic Cyclone | Quick Spell |
Galactic Origin [UR] Selection Box Vol. 01 Mini [UR]
Pay 1000 LP, then target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; banish it. |
Use Cosmic Cyclone to reliably get both Tarotrei and the ritual spell to your hand. The skill can be used each time your LP is reduced by 1000, which means that you can even use it twice in a turn.
To use the skill twice in a turn, you can either use Cosmic Cyclone or get attacked on your opponent's turn, then activate the skill on your turn before using another Cosmic Cyclone. Alternatively, you can Cosmic Cyclone on your turn, use the skill, and then another Cosmic Cyclone to enable the skill again.
Keep in mind that you have to return a card from hand to your deck to activate this, so you are not getting any card advantage doing this.
Number 9: Dyson Sphere | LIGHT Machine ★9 ATK 2800 / DEF 3000 |
Darkness Gimmick [UR] | |
2 Level 9 monsters Once per Battle Step, during your opponent's turn, if this card with Xyz Material is attacked: Negate the attack (this is a Quick Effect). When this card is targeted for an attack while it has no Xyz Materials: You can target 2 monsters in your Graveyard; attach those targets to this card as Xyz Materials. During your Main Phase 1: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; this card can attack your opponent directly this turn. Your opponent must control a monster with higher ATK than this card for you to activate and to resolve this effect. |
Pretty much act as a big wall that can be difficult to get over and also give the deck another win condition. Best not to rely on this for too long since there are plenty of card removals in the game.
If you want the direct attack effect, you'll have to wait until your opponent summons a 2800+ ATK monster since they might not do it if you already have this on the field prior.
Abyss Dweller | WATER Sea Serpent ★4 ATK 1700 / DEF 1400 |
Photons of Galaxy [UR] Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters While this card has an Xyz Material attached that was originally WATER, all WATER monsters you control gain 500 ATK. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; any card effects that activate in your opponent's Graveyard cannot be activated this turn. |
Since there aren't any other rank 9 Xyz, the rest of the extra deck can be rank 4s since there might be times where you have 2 level 4s on the field.
Abyss Dweller is useful against certain decks that rely on effects that happen in the graveyard. It can stop floating effects or chain block an opponent, but it has low ATK so not exactly a safe monster to bring out if you don't know if it will be useful against your opponent.
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon | DARK Dragon ★4 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Phantom of Rebellion [UR]
2 Level 4 monsters You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK, and if it does, this card gains that lost ATK. |
Lets you get over high ATK monsters, as long as they can be targeted.
Number 70: Malevolent Sin | DARK Insect ★4 ATK 2400 / DEF 1200 |
Photons of Galaxy [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 monster your opponent controls; banish it until your opponent's next Standby Phase. At the end of the Damage Step, if this card attacked: You can make this card gain 300 ATK, and if you do, increase its Rank by 3. |
Useful against opponents that only have 1 monster on the field, especially if it's an Xyz monster since it will also remove the materials.
Diamond Dire Wolf | EARTH Beast ★4 ATK 2000 / DEF 1200 |
Voltage of the Metal [SR] Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them. |
Generally useful rank 4 to have for its card removal effect. Use it to destroy itself and another spell/trap card so you can more safely summon your monsters.
Number 50: Blackship of Corn | DARK Plant ★4 ATK 2100 / DEF 1500 |
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with ATK less than or equal to this card's; send it to the Graveyard, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect. |
It's a simple monster removal effect that can work on most low-level monsters, but the effect damage is lowered to 500 in Duel Links. Use this if you want to avoid battling them in case they have a dangerous effect.
Digital Bug Corebage | LIGHT Insect ★5 ATK 2200 / DEF 1800 |
Infinite Ray [R] | |
2 or more Level 5 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 3 or 4 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck. Once per turn, if the battle position of a monster(s) on the field is changed (except during the Damage Step): You can attach 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard to this card as Xyz Material. |
Since Tarotrei can flip your opponent's monster face-down, you can use this to remove a monster without having to attack. This is summonable by using Malevolent Sin, but you need to not use Malevolent Sin's effect since this needs 2 materials from the rank 4 insect.
Senju of the Thousand Hands | LIGHT Fairy ★4 ATK 1400 / DEF 1000 |
Neo-Impact [UR] | |
When this card is Normal or Flip Summoned: You can add 1 Ritual Monster from your Deck to your hand. |
If you feel like you want more consistency so you can get to ritual summoning faster, you can put more Senju or use Gishki Chain. Alternatively, there's also Sonic Bird to get the ritual spell.
Sprites Blessing | Ritual Spell |
Neo-Impact [R] | |
This card can be used to Ritual Summon any LIGHT Ritual Monster. You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels exactly equal the Level of the Ritual Monster you Ritual Summon. |
To have more ritual spells in the deck. This can ritual summon Tarotrei as well, but it's more restrictive since it needs exact levels, which means you'll need another Tarotrei or Deus-X-Krawler as the material only.
Steelswarm Roach | DARK Fiend ★4 ATK 1900 / DEF 0 |
Photons of Galaxy [SR] | |
2 Level 4 monsters During either player's turn, when a Level 5 or higher monster would be Special Summoned: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the Special Summon, and if you do, destroy it. |
Can destroy synchro monsters from being summoned, or other potentially powerful high-level monsters. It's better to bring this out when you know that it will work on your opponent though since it doesn't prevent a summon of every high-level monster in general.
Photon Papilloperative | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 2100 / DEF 1800 |
Photons of Galaxy [R] | |
2 Level 4 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Defense Position monster on the field; change it to face-up Attack Position, and if you do, it loses 600 ATK. |
This is more of a follow-up card if your Tarotrei is destroyed. Use it on your opponent's monster so you can attack them and prevent stalls.
Number 18: Heraldry Patriarch | LIGHT Psychic ★4 ATK 2200 / DEF 2200 |
Voltage of the Metal [R]
2 Level 4 monsters Once per Chain, during either player's turn, if 2 or more monsters with the same name are on the field: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; choose 1 monster among those with the same name, and destroy all other monsters with that name. While this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot Summon monsters with the same name as any of the monster(s) chosen for this card's effect. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 2 "Heraldic Beast" monsters from your Deck to the Graveyard. |
Its effect is very devastating against decks that uses same name monsters like Harpies or Cyber Dragons. Outside of those matchups, there's no reason to really summon this.
