Melodious: deck recipe [Jan 6]

Duel Links Melodious deck, Melodious in the meta, how to use Melodious cards.
update 06/01/2023

Overview

Melodious are a fusion focused deck that can fusion summon without having to use Polymerization. The availability of a searcher spell + a good skill makes it easy to get the fusions out, ultimately leading to a monster that can banish 3 cards in either grave, or an indestructible monster that can deal with any special summoned monster, making them very good against most meta decks.

They also have a good layer of protection due to having access to a powerful handtrap, allowing them to battle any monster even without using the fusions.

[Skill] descriptionUser
From Songstress to Maestra
Send 1 face-up monster you control whose original name includes "Melodious" to your Graveyard. Then, play 1 "Melodious Maestra" monster from your Deck/Graveyard to your field whose original Level is higher than that of the monster sent to the Graveyard. This Skill can only be used if you begin the Duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contains no monsters other than "Melodious" monsters. Can be used once per Duel.

How To Play

Score the Melodious Diva

Score the Melodious Diva
Score the Melodious Diva
LIGHT Fairy ★2
ATK 200 / DEF 200
Zuzu Boyle [UR]
During damage calculation (in either player's turn), if a "Melodious" monster you control battles an opponent's monster: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change that opponent's monster's ATK and DEF to 0, until the end of this turn.

A very powerful trap to get over most monsters. If you already have the cards needed to do a fusion, you can search for this using 1st Movement Solo and activate the skill so you can use Mozarta's effect. But doing this will make it obvious to your opponent that you searched for it.

Since Bloom Diva already has a very powerful effect to deal with most monsters, you can consider saving this card in your hand in case your opponent uses cards to negate Bloom Diva's effect to prevent it from getting destroyed by battle.

When it's in the grave, you can always get it back using either Shopina or Soprano through Mozarta.

Soprano the Melodious Songstress

Soprano the Melodious Songstress
Soprano the Melodious Songstress
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 1400 / DEF 1400
Masters of Shadow [SR]
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [SR]
When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 "Melodious" monster in your Graveyard, except "Soprano the Melodious Songstress"; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Soprano the Melodious Songstress" once per turn. Once per turn: You can Fusion Summon 1 "Melodious" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters you control as Fusion Materials, including this card.

This is the main way of fusion summoning into the boss monsters, which makes it a core card to see in your opening hand, or at least 1st Movement Solo.

If you already have this in your hand, you can normal summon any other monster or 1st Movement Solo first, then use the skill to get Shopina into the field. This lets you special summon Mozarta so you can retrieve the card used as cost for the skill.

Melodious Maestra

These Melodious Maestras are the high level monsters that you can summon using your skill. They can't be negated/floodgated by your opponent since they are summoned through the skill. However, your opponent can still respond to the activation of the monsters' effect by using something like Fiendish Chain or Forbidden Chalice.

If you have Soprano in hand, then Mozarta might be the better choice, but it can give your opponent a chance to use Treacherous Trap Hole.

If you simply want to recover a card from grave to hand, then use the skill to get Shopina out. This is the combo that you do with Ostinato.

Mozarta the Melodious Maestra
Mozarta the Melodious Maestra
LIGHT Fairy ★8
ATK 2600 / DEF 2000
Masters of Shadow [R]

Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 LIGHT Fairy-Type monster from your hand. You cannot Special Summon other monsters the turn you activate this effect, except for LIGHT monsters.
Shopina the Melodious Maestra

ATK 2300 / DEF 1700

Once per turn: You can target 1 LIGHT Fairy-Type monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You cannot activate non-LIGHT monster effects during the turn you activate this effect.

Other Melodious Monsters

Sonata the Melodious Diva
Sonata the Melodious Diva
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 1200 / DEF 1000
Masters of Shadow [R]
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [R]
If you control a "Melodious" monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). While this Special Summoned card is on the field, all Fairy-Type monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF.

It has a special summoning effect that isn't limited to once per turn. On the field, it's simply just an attack booster, but you can use this to perform the basic fusion summon with Soprano as well.

Solo the Melodious Songstress
Solo the Melodious Songstress
LIGHT Fairy ★4
ATK 1600 / DEF 1000
Masters of Shadow [N]
If your opponent controls a monster and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Melodious" monster from your Deck, except "Solo the Melodious Songstress".

Ostinato

Ostinato
Ostinato
Normal Spell
Zuzu Boyle at Lvl 30 [UR]
If you control no monsters: Fusion Summon 1 "Melodious" Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, using 2 monsters from your hand and/or Deck as Fusion Material. During the End Phase of this turn, destroy the monster Fusion Summoned by this effect, and if you do, if all the Fusion Materials that were used for its Fusion Summon are in your GY, you can Special Summon all of them.

Since the Melodious fusion monsters can use any Melodious as a material, this card lets you put almost any Melodious monsters from deck to grave, which is already very powerful. But what makes it even better is that Bloom Diva can't be destroyed by card effects, which means you can summon Bloom Diva for free with no drawbacks.

If you really need to banish your opponent's card in their grave, you can special summon Schuberta instead. It will be destroyed during the end phase, but you won't be left defenseless because of Ostinato's last effect.

A strong turn 1 play to end up with 2 fusion monsters requires you to have Ostinato and Sonata in your hand:

  • Activate Ostinato and send Mozarta + Soprano.
  • Special summon Sonata and activate the skill to summon Shopina.
  • Activate Shopina and retrieve the Soprano sent to grave from Ostinato.
  • Normal summon Soprano and use her effect to fuse with the Shopina.

1st Movement Solo

If you control no monsters: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Melodious" monster from your hand or Deck. You can only activate 1 "1st Movement Solo" per turn. You cannot Special Summon monsters during the turn you activate this card, except "Melodious" monsters.

This Spell Card allows you to Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower “Melodious” monster from your hand or Deck. You need to control no monsters in order to activate 1st Movement Solo, so it’s going to be, quite fittingly, the first card you activate during your turn.

  • Use 1st Movement Solo to Special Summon Soprano, and, if there are any, add 1 “Melodious” monster from your Graveyard back to your hand.

Target 1 face-up monster on the field; Special Summon 1 monster from your hand or GY, with the same original Type as that monster's, but with a different original name. If this card in its owner's Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Set 1 "Super Team Buddy Force Unite!" directly from your Deck to your Spell & Trap Zone.
Necro Fusion
Necro Fusion
Normal Trap
Warriors Unite [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 03 [SR]
Fusion Summon 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck, by banishing Fusion Materials listed on it from your GY face-down, but it cannot attack this turn.

Extra Decks

Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir
Bloom Diva the Melodious Choir
LIGHT Fairy ★6
ATK 1000 / DEF 2000
Pendulum Genesis [UR]
1 "Melodious Maestra" monster + 1 "Melodious" monster
Cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects, also you take no battle damage from attacks involving this card. If this card battles a Special Summoned monster, after damage calculation: You can inflict damage to your opponent equal to the difference between the original ATK of that opponent's monster and this card, and if you do, destroy that opponent's monster.

Since most strong monsters are often special summoned, Bloom Diva's effect will essentially almost work all the time. But she won't do well against defensive players that often sets their monsters. Bloom Diva won't do well against opponents that bricks and ends up becoming quite a slow play, but she is often a safe monster to summon on turn 1.

This card can be very difficult to deal with, so it can serve as a good wall to protect your LP. However, not being untargetable still means there are plenty of ways your opponent can use to get rid of it.

Even though this card requires 1 Melodious Maestra monster as material, you can very consistently and easily summon her by using Ostinato or the skill.

Schuberta the Melodious Maestra
Schuberta the Melodious Maestra
LIGHT Fairy ★6
ATK 2400 / DEF 2000
Masters of Shadow [UR]
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [UR]
2 "Melodious" monsters
During either player's turn: You can target up to 3 cards in any Graveyard(s); banish them, and if you do, this card gains 200 ATK for each. This effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field.

Its effect is a quick effect, and while it may sound like simply an attack boost, the banishing of your opponent's cards can be crucial to stopping an important play, and it works surprisingly well against most of the meta decks.

Her summoning materials are also very lenient, making it incredibly easy to summon her since you can use Soprano with anything. Using Ostinato means that you can dump any Melodious monster from deck to grave, which you can then use the skill to get Shopina or Mozarta+Soprano to retrieve, making it an easy way to search for the handtrap.

You can even use tech cards like King of the Swamp and Polymerization or Flash Fusion if you want the deck to run faster.

Mainly to be used as a fusion material due to its drawback. Use 1st Movement Solo to search for either Opera or Soprano so you can gain an indestructible effect for a turn.

Bloom Prima the Melodious Choir
Bloom Prima the Melodious Choir
LIGHT Fairy ★7
ATK 1900 / DEF 2000
Masters of Shadow [R]
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [R]
1 "Melodious Maestra" monster + 1 or more "Melodious" monsters
This card gains 300 ATK for each Fusion Material used for its Fusion Summon. This card can make a second attack during each Battle Phase. If this Fusion Summoned card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Melodious" monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand.

Other Cards Option

Opera the Melodious Diva

Opera the Melodious Diva
Opera the Melodious Diva
LIGHT Fairy
ATK 2300 / DEF 1000
Masters of Shadow [N]
Selection Box Vol.01 Super Mini [N]
This card cannot attack the turn it is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up. If this card is sent to the Graveyard as a Fusion Material for a Fusion Summon: You can activate this effect; for the rest of this turn, "Melodious" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects.

Using 2 monsters, this is at least 2500 ATK. This is mainly here as an alternative to the other fusion monsters. Occasionally it will be useful as a beater to secure games, but might not be summoned that much compared to Bloom Diva or Schuberta.

This deck has high consistency thank to the skill only draw back is that in archtype monster doesnt fare well with boatd wipe and have next to no interruption power , you would want to push lots of spell/trap staple to fill that hole. Playing more than 20 cards is actually optimal for this deckor you will just lose to any deck that can get over your set TTH.

or you wont even draw TTH.

3 copies of 1st Movement is a brick disaster waiting to happen.

I personally prefer to run just 1, and use the remaining 2 slots for more Melodious monsters instead, like Solo and Canon, that I can turn with the skill into Mozarta/Shopina
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Or use the slots for Poly instead, so you actually can fuse from hand and doesn't have to rely on drawing Ostinato or fielding Soprano

trust me you would rather brick with solo than brick without solo.

and if you are worry about draw a maestras then play Super Buddy force x2. that card can float and an brick hand, while also function as a monster reborn in the deck.

The only draw back is that it need a monster to be on field that sometime force you to summon asap when they can wipe your field so you can't wait for the right time to play it.
Anonymous
By the way, if you use Opera as a fusion material with Ostinato, her effect will protect the fusion card from being destroyed in the end phase. Bloom Diva is also immune to card destruction so she will be safe regardless of what materials you use.

What about Bloom Prima? And is it viable to make a Melodious deck that also features the main deck bosses?

Added 1 Bloom Prima and 1 Flash Fusion instead of Shadow Imprisoning Mirror for insta-kill

It's easier to use Solo to summon Mozarta (what I use). If you run into a higher ATK monster, attack it anyway and her search effect still activates. You can even attack right away AND Special Summon a second monster from your hand.

With proper supports Melodious can be good. I'm still searching around cuz I just started playing and I'm F2P.

Flash Fusion? That card is terrible lol

Bloom Prima was amazing in the early days of the game when nobody was playing the melodious deck. I don’t think most people realized she could attack twice (just like most people still don’t realize they shouldn’t crash their special summoned monsters into Bloom Diva) so it was always great to have her as a finisher.

Nowadays she sort of gets overlooked, but still a great option to have :)

I like using the fairy’s smile skill, it’s a free 1000 LP for each monster card, and I feel like most people don’t pay attention to what I draw even when it gets revealed, because even when they see that I have Score in my hand, they still blindly attack into me. I have won quite a few duels where having that extra LP bought me time I otherwise wouldn’t have had.

I also most definitely would recommend using polymerization with this archetype though! Soprano is a good option but the downside is she only works with materials on the field. If your opening hand is something like Opera, Soprano, Mozarta, some other random spell / trap card, you won’t be able to fusion summon that turn. But with polymerization, you can.

Ostinato is also a definite lifesaver in a case when you get a horrible opening hand. Too bad there is only one copy in the game.

Ehmmmm.... what happened to this deck? No chane to the deck and yet none is using it right now. I still remember all the rage before couple of months from players demanding a super duper nerf of the deck/skill etc especially for bloom diva and score.
And back to my real question:
Do magnets really need a nerf? The deck has been the same 3 years now with only addition the extra deck.
Us it propably time for konami to hit some generic extra deck cards (like malevolent sin etc) or generic spell/traps (book of moon, mst etc) instead of core cards of rogue decks?
In the end of the day, staple are those who win the games.

BULLSH*T this is Tier 3

Why cards like Gaia the Foerce Knight Origin cant be used to counter Melodius Score? I mean, theoretically you can still use gaia effect in damage step to alter your monster attack back to original, but in fact not. What do I miss here??
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
It's probably related with score effect that is in damage calculation vs gaia in damage step
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Seems that's the reason (found on rulings about dmg step)

"Spell/Trap Cards and Quick/Quick-like Effects that directly alter the ATK/DEF of a monster(s) (increasing or decreasing ATK/DEF, changing ATK/DEF to a certain amount, switching ATK/DEF values, etc.) can be activated during the Damage Step, but only UP UNTIL damage calculation"

Santa Claws can hit this, once you get rid of Blood Dive, this deck has not many ways to bring her back

Gonna be the easiest KOG ever for melodious, all those cyber dragon decks are easy prey

Sad but true, Incredible hard deck to deal with, even if i tech some cards still my win rate not increasing that much against this deck. Well i guess konami wants to sell the melodious boxes, after that expect a limit like the usual scummy way how they deal with these balance changes.

Against a mirror duel, you'll need a card that negate monster effect's, or else the duel will not end until one cannot draw

The No1 reason I dropped this deck. Melodious mirror matches are the most boring thing in dl atm, especially if both players use cards like skill prisoner. Then the match is all about deck out after 15-20 turns. I would rather use another deck and loose to melodious rather than w8ing 10 minutes to end a duel. Even aromages are less boring.

I still wonder why no sh1t1 melodious stall deck hasn't appeared yet in dl. I am pretty sure sooner or later we will see one running bloom diva among with sh1t2 things like 3 treacherous, 3 skill prisoner and all the other stuff...

It is also the reason why TCG removed them to 1-each. You need to buy the Archetype variants to make your deck win.
