Miscellaneousaurus' effect works from the graveyard and Screw Serpent's effect Special Summons from the graveyard. To speed up your graveyard setup, tech in the Lightsworn Engine for milling.
Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn | LIGHT Warrior ★4 ATK 1700 / DEF 1000 |
Judgement Force [SR] Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
During your Main Phase: You can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard, then if any "Lightsworn" monsters were sent to the Graveyard by this effect, this card gains 200 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn. You can only use this effect of "Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn" once per turn. Once per turn, during your End Phase: Send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. |
Raiden is the only Main Deck Lightsworn monster that lets you actively mill during the Main Phase. Because it happens during the Main Phase you can immediately use the resources you milled.
Another thing is that Raiden being a Level-4 Tuner is exactly what you need to pair with Booster Raptor to make Star Guardian. If you're lucky enough to mill Miscellaneousaurus, you can banish it to Special Summon Booster Raptor then immediately go into a Synchro.
Charge of the Light Brigade | Normal Spell |
Judgement Force [SR] Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
Send the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard; add 1 Level 4 or lower "Lightsworn" monster from your Deck to your hand. |
Charge of the Light Brigade fetches Raiden and is itself also a good mill card. The cost doesn't really negatively affect your available resources. And extra milling during the Main Phase helps you perform the combo with Raiden and Miscellaneousaurus.
Fossil Dig | Normal Spell |
Rex Raptor [UR] | |
Add 1 Level 6 or lower Dinosaur-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. |
Fossil Dig can be used to fetch Booster Raptor if you need it immediately. Or you can fetch Miscellaneousaurus and discard it to prepare Special Summoning Booster Raptor from the Deck.
Breakthrough Skill | Normal Trap |
Selection Box Vol.03 Mini [UR]
Target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that face-up monster your opponent controls has its effects negated until the end of this turn. During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 face-up Effect Monster your opponent controls; that target has its effects negated until the end of this turn. |
Disrupts your opponent and it works well when you get it in hand or milled with the Lightsworns.
Oasis of Dragon Souls | Continuous Trap |
Pendulum Genesis [SR] | |
Activate this card by targeting 1 monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it in Defense Position. It becomes Wyrm-Type. When this card leaves the field, destroy that monster. When that monster leaves the field, destroy this card. |
Useful in general to help with synchro, but many of the cards also have effects that trigger when special summoned.
Screw Serpent can revive another card in the grave, while Star Guardian can recover back to hand. Star Guardian can also act as a surprise synchro again if you already have a monster on the field.
If your opponent uses a backrow removal card, you can revive Booster Raptor to get a search effect at the end of your turn.
Ruddy Rose Dragon | FIRE Dragon ★10 ATK 3200 / DEF 2400 |
Ruddy Rose Burning [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can banish all cards from the GYs, then, if this card was Synchro Summoned using "Black Rose Dragon" or a Plant Synchro Monster as material, you can destroy all other cards on the field. When your opponent activates a card or effect that would destroy a card(s) (Quick Effect): You can Tribute this card; negate the activation, then you can Special Summon 1 "Black Rose Dragon" from your Extra Deck or GY. |
Level 10 Enhance Version of Black Rose Dragon which can banish all cards from the GYs (including yours) if this card is Synchro Summoned. In this case, Ruddy Rose can be special summoned by using Star Guardian + Rosemary which will give another wipe effect to all other cards on the field.
Ruddy Rose Dragon in the opponent's turn is very good, especially against Burning Abyss due to Star Guardian's effect which can allow you to special summon this card during your opponent's Main Phase.
Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon | FIRE Dragon ★7 ATK 2500 / DEF 2000 |
Force of Infinity [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters When this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 card in your Pendulum Zone; Special Summon it, also this card cannot attack for the rest of this turn. You can only use this effect of "Odd-Eyes Meteorburst Dragon" once per turn. Monsters in your opponent's possession cannot activate their effects during the Battle Phase. |
Mainly to disable/prevent monster effects during your battle phase, which can prevent commonly used hand traps that often stall the duel.
Black Rose Dragon | FIRE Dragon ★7 ATK 2400 / DEF 1800 |
Blazing Rose [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned: You can destroy all cards on the field. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Plant-Type monster from your Graveyard, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; change that target to face-up Attack Position, and if you do, its ATK becomes 0 until the end of this turn. |
Special Summon Black Rose Dragon to get rid of your opponent's entire field setup.
To make Black Rose Dragon:
Coral Dragon | WATER Dragon ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 500 |
Chronicle of Glory [UR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it. If this Synchro Summoned card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Coral Dragon" once per turn. |
Coral Dragon offers a simple targeted removal effect and decent stats. It also gives you a refund on resources when it leaves the field. But the best part is you can later use Coral Dragon as Synchro material for Onimaru.
Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier | WATER Sea Serpent ★6 ATK 2300 / DEF 1400 |
Aerial Assault [UR] Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters You can discard any number of cards to the GY, then target the same number of cards your opponent controls; return those cards to the hand. You can only use this effect of "Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" once per turn. |
Brionac's mass removal effect is ideal for breaking enemy board setups. It can even be used as a field wipe if you have enough costs on hand. You'll want to discard Miscellaneousaurus as cost because it doesn't have any purpose in your hand, next you can discard Booster Raptor so it can be revived by Screw Serpent.
Aromaseraphy Rosemary | LIGHT Plant ★5 ATK 2000 / DEF 900 |
Card Trader [UR] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters While your LP is higher than your opponent's, Plant-Type monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF. Once per turn, if you gain LP: Target 1 face-up card your opponent controls; it has its effects negated until the end of this turn. |
Paired with Star Guardian for special summoning Ruddy Rose Dragon.
Powered Inzektron | LIGHT Machine ★6 ATK 2500 / DEF 1600 |
Secrets of the Ancients [SR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters When this card is Synchro Summoned: This turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects, also you take no damage. |
Because Star Guardian lets you Synchro on your opponent's turn, Powered Inzektron becomes a great defensive tech. After your opponent builds a powerful board but before their Battle Phase, you can make Powered Inzektron to stall an OTK.
White Aura Dolphin | WATER Fish ★6 ATK 2400 / DEF 1000 |
Cybernetic Rebellion [SR] Selection Box Vol.04 [SR]
1 Tuner + 1+ non-Tuner monsters Once per turn: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its original ATK until the end of this turn. If this card you control is destroyed by an opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your GY: You can banish 1 other WATER monster from your GY; Special Summon this card, and if you do, it is treated as a Tuner. |
White Aura Dolphin can halve the ATK of enemy monsters for no cost, making even the strongest monsters susceptible to beatdown. For Dolphin's inherent revival effect, you can banish Screw Serpent.
Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder | DARK Winged Beast ★12 ATK 3000 / DEF 2000 |
Aerial Assault [R] | |
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters If this card is Synchro Summoned using a "Blackwing" monster as Material, it is treated as a Tuner while face-up on the field. Cannot be destroyed by card effects. You can target 1 "Blackwing" monster in your Graveyard; this card's Level becomes the same as that monster's. You can only use this effect of "Assault Blackwing - Onimaru the Divine Thunder" once per Duel. If this card that was Synchro Summoned using only Synchro Monsters attacks, this card gains 3000 ATK during the Damage Step only. |
To summon Onimaru you'll need a Level-6 Synchro like Vulcan paired with Star Guardian Level modulated by Screw Serpent. This way Onimaru is effectively a 6000 ATK beater with protection from destruction effects.
Noted By Safwen:
If you start the second I have a simple OTK combo. Special summon striker from your hand, then the effect of war wolf will trigger special summon him, then synchro summon star guardian after that activate star guardian the both effects on war wolf add him to hand and special summon it then synchro summon Hama, after this normal summon screw serpent from your hand and activates his effect to summon war Wolf and synchro summon meteor Brust.
Noted By Bran Stark:
I just go on with the textbook Star guardian plays and wait to blackrose or crystron the oponnent's field with the occasional big brain plays.
Noted by Don-Key-Oh:
I used the deck with a lot more control and patience, placing down booster raptors and treacherous trap hole to get through a bad turn 1 without getting screw serpent. Miscellaneousaurus was good lighning vortex fodder, and i was able to deal with both heavy offensive and control decks by deciding between brd+onimaru combos and t.g. halberd cannon.
