GNCell | Level Augmentation | March 15 |
A comment from GNCell:
Description: As usual, karakuri consistency is the best architype i used so far as it had fast drawing mechanism. I mix those important spell and trap in two copy. It work well in countering different type of deck. I feel floodgate is better than canadia as it dont target monster. Stardust dragon is to counter yubel deck. Offering to doom is good when fight with anti trap deck which run balance. Cosmic cyclone is good against ancient gear, it prevent my opponent in summoning AG boss monster.

Photon Jet | Level Augmentation | March 28 |
A comment from Photon Jet:
I was so happy after I earned the title of King of Games for the first time. I remembered playing a Karakuri deck about 8 years ago so I was so glad they're a strong and fun archetype to play to this day.
Anyway, the strong point of Karakuris to me is the draw power from Karakuri Anatomys. The best case scenario is to first summon Ninishi, then activate a Karakuri Anatomy before either activating Level Augmentation to summon Inashichi, the merchant to add Karakuri Cash Cache for another Ninishi copy, or summon a Level 4 Karakuri monster due to its effect. Once Shogun comes out, the option in most cases is to Special Summon a Level 4 Karakuri monster in Defense mode for Shogun to change it to Attack position.
I put a Karakuri Ninja in the deck because I do need a monster to deal with Destiny Hero Decider and those who cannot be destroyed by battle from 1900 ATK+ monsters. Putting Counters on Anatomys is the key to give yourself a hand advantage and prepare for what the opponent could do.
I could stop set-ups with Canadias, banish cards in the back row with Cosmic Cyclones or straight up destroy monsters that pose a big threat with Offerings to the Doomed and Treacherous Trap Hole. Armades is very helpful for safe attacks and stopping Yubel Fire King decks before Yubel comes to the field and Giganticastle is to overpower most Ancient Gear decks (except Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem which is troublesome).
One thing to point out is most of my opponents were unaware that Karakuris can switch to Defense position when attacked, which leaves them off-guard. That's why it is important to have a look at every card's effect before conducting an action. Just keep that in mind.
Overall, Karakuris to me are great fun and I think you should have a go with them too. You'll be surprised how well they can do when constructed correctly.

A comment from Kortezzy:
Canadia were for protection, I tried sphere kuriboh but faced too many Ancient Gears.
The other monster such as ice are for Yubel, Silent Magician, or other hard to kill monsters or difficult game situations.
Tips:
Try to set up a wall to stop spells such as diamond core and things that can destroy geartown.
For stall try to set urknight to bait amonzoness. Also try to save ice and trunade for a mid/game push.
Finally, use grit to see what your
opponent will do and set canadia or a monster if you think they have game.

R.H | The Tie that Binds | March 5 |
A comment from R.H:
Note: Plat is very hard this season, it took me more than 100 games just so that I can get to legend, and it took me about 20 games to reach KOG.
Legend right now is all about Dinos, I played against 3 mirror match, 1 stall and 1 AG.
Dinos are so strong right now because of survival’s end and if you don’t have a diamond core there is 90% chance that you’ve lost the game. I lost a couple of rank ups due to dinos.

A comment from a_ndra12:
After konami's banlist announcement, I tried to KOG this session with my first and final Ko'aki deck. Faced too many Dinos and Mirror match, I prefer to use Sealed Tomb.
Against Dino, you must use the skill effectively. If you are not sure you can OTK them in your current turn, just activated Sealed Tomb so you don't lose your resource for next turn. Don't force to ATK if you don't any resource to make your game, except you want to play with their backrow. Don't worry Sphere Kuriboh will save your LP. In addition, Hey Trunade helps me lot to wipe out their backrows.
Against Mirror Match, Sealed tomb help me to prevent opponent banish their diamond core, so they must pay the cost with all their resources or let their monster destroyed. Again, Sphere Kuriboh is MVP for this match.
Against Ancient Gear, Sealed Tomb and Kuriboh are useless. The key is you must faster than them. Use Ko'aki Meiru Ice to destroy AG Reactor Dragon and Ko'aki Meiru Wall to prevent any spell destruct their Geartown/Fortress. I reccommend you to replace Kuriboh with Canadia if you often face AG.

A comment from Tataoh:
Just a very standard version of Koa'ki meiru deck that works very good in this meta
The skill used is the tie that binds, which is very useful in the mirror duels.
Yubel gets destroyed just summoning ice. Ancient gear can't summon because I run only one set. Even dinos get beaten easily using diamond core effects.
Going first with this deck could be an issue, but playing smart and using sphere kuriboh or enemy controller effects can help

A comment from Rorixblade:
Note: First KOG. Bad Aim is a great card for Geartown, throwing off its timing. KM-Ice was amazing versus Yubel as it cleared the way for OTKs. Used Core Reinforcement to set up Rooklord. Highly recommend playing Koa'ki Meiru even post nerf.

This is my FIRST KING OF GAMES! I usually just go for the awards but I wanted to see if I could make it all the way. Basic movement of a Laval deck but with 3 special summoning monster for the OTK chance. Last match was ancient gear I was sweating! MOST FUN FOR SURE WITH THIS DECK! Handles all decks cause there a out for everything. I tired with aliens and dragunity but stuck at legend two and three this was the out. ENJOY!!

Currahee | Reinforcements | March 30 |
A comment from Currahee:
There are some situation cards: gold sarc., econ, pot of acq., warrior returning. If I have a Cannon and Gold Sarc. in the starting hand, than ready for the first turn the Synchro summon; later a good stall abillity.
If I destroyed any cards on the field with Dustflame Blasts and banish all monster from my graveyard, Pot of Acquisitiveness help and I can draw a card. In that situation when I had few cards left in my deck, it's really important with an higher chance than I back to the deck three Cannon and draw one of them.
In terms of monsters; L.Miller is very useful, if I hadn't a Molten Conduction in my hand or that he will be the third card to make Lady's effect.
Lady's effect is clear, that's really important with Canadias against Yubel players.
The hard matchups are the Yubels, who can summon Cerulean soon in the duel... Of course, the AG is too, but it depends largely on the starting hand; although the Dustflame Blast don't target just destroy.
