How to Play

Machina Boss monsters

Special Summon Fortress by discarding Megaform. With just this simple combo you'll be securing your field presence, by into floating into a new boss monster every time one is destroyed.

Fortress and Megaform are both decent beaters. Additionally, Fortress has decent control effects; letting you crash Fortress into an enemy monster for removal. Then Special Summon Megaform which leads into Special Summoning a new Fortress. Be careful not to banish all three copies of Fortress. Keep your last copy of Fortress in the graveyard. And at this point don't float into Megaform.

Fortress' force discard effect can actually be triggered fairly often due to the prevalence of monsters with removal effects. This is a good way to punish cards such as Psychic Wheeleder and Shiranui Spiritmaster.

Machina Fortress
Machina Fortress
EARTH Machine ★7
ATK 2500 / DEF 1600
Fortress of Gears [UR]
You can discard Machine-Type monster(s) whose total Levels equal 8 or more, then Special Summon this card (from your hand or Graveyard). If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard: Target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy that target. Before resolving an opponent's monster effect that targets this face-up card, look at your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from their hand.
Machina Megaform
Machina Megaform
EARTH Machine
ATK 2600 / DEF 1500
Fortress of Gears [R]
You can Tribute this card; Special Summon 1 "Machina" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Machina Megaform". If a face-up "Machina Fortress" you control is sent to the Graveyard, while this card is in your Graveyard (except during the Damage Step): You can banish that "Machina Fortress" from the Graveyard; Special Summon this card. You can only use 1 "Machina Megaform" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Searcher

Machina Gearframe
Machina Gearframe
EARTH Machine ★4
ATK 1800 / DEF
Fortress of Gears [SR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 "Machina" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Machina Gearframe". Once per turn, you can either: Target 1 Machine-Type monster you control; equip this card to that target, OR: Unequip this card and Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. (A monster can only be equipped with 1 Union monster at a time. If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead.)

Most of the time you'll be summoning Gearframe to search Fortress. If you already have Fortress onhand, search Megaform to use as discard cost. Attach Gearframe to the Special Summoned Fortress for protection.

Machina Cannon

Machina Cannon
Machina Cannon
EARTH Machine ★8
ATK 0 / DEF 2200
Servants of Kings [R]
Future Horizon [R]
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by sending one or more Machine-Type monsters from your hand to the Graveyard. This card gains 800 ATK for each card sent to the Graveyard for this Special Summon.

Currently Cannon only functions as another discard cost when Special Summoning Fortress.

In the future, Cannon's inherent Special Summmoning effect makes him a great pair with Megaform to make Rank-8 Xyz monsters.

Sky Striker Maneuver - Jamming Waves!

Sky Striker Maneuver - Jamming Waves!
Sky Striker Maneuver - Jamming Waves!
Normal Spell
Fortress of Gears [SR]
If you control no monsters in your Main Monster Zones: Target 1 Set Spell/Trap on the field; destroy it, then, if you have 3 or more Spells in your GY, you can destroy 1 monster on the field.

A great backrow removal card to use when going second. The deck isn't great at swarming, so you'll occasionally get the chance to activate Jamming Waves again mid-game when Megaform is destroyed. At this point you might even have enough Spell cards in the graveyard to maximize Jamming Waves.

Tributed Techs

Fortress makes a great tribute cost for these cards since you get to replace it with Megaform. This is especially useful when the opponent debuffs your monster with cards such as Fiendish Chain or Wall of Disruption.

For offensive plays these cards are also useful for opening the opponent up for an OTK. Especially Enemy Controller, letting you steal an enemy monster and also get Megaform onboard for massive damage.

Normal Spell
Blazing Rose [R]
Tribute 1 monster; make your opponent Tribute 1 monster (for no effect).
Enemy Controller
Enemy Controller
Quick Spell
Seto Kaiba [SR]
Activate 1 of these effects.● Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position.● Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; take control of that target until the End Phase.
Ballista Squad
Ballista Squad
Normal Trap
Fortress of Gears [UR]
Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it.

Super Team Buddy Force Unite!

Super Team Buddy Force Unite!
Super Team Buddy Force Unite!
Normal Trap
Spirit of the Beast [SR]
Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR]
Target 1 face-up monster on the field; Special Summon 1 monster from your hand or GY, with the same original Type as that monster's, but with a different original name. If this card in its owner's Spell & Trap Zone is destroyed by an opponent's card effect: You can Set 1 "Super Team Buddy Force Unite!" directly from your Deck to your Spell & Trap Zone.

Buddy Force Unite is a great revival tech, because all your monsters have the same original Type. You'll mostly use this to revive Megaform, to have it onboard alongside Fortress. You can also revive any of your boss monsters for free just by having Gearframe onboard.

Extra Decks

Fill your Extra Deck with Rank-4 Xyzs, to at least get some value out of an otherwise empty Extra Deck. You occasionally get the chance to summon these if you manage to get two Gearframes onboard.

Gagaga Cowboy
Gagaga Cowboy
EARTH Warrior ★4
ATK 1500 / DEF 2400
Gagaga XYZ
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; apply this effect, depending on this card's current battle position.
● Attack Position: If this card attacks an opponent's monster this turn, it gains 1000 ATK, also the opponent's monster loses 500 ATK, during the Damage Step only.
● Defense Position: Inflict 800 damage to your opponent.

Cowboy in defense position lets you burn the opponent's last 800LP to steal some wins. Other than that, the attack position effect is pretty good for beating down powerful enemy monsters.

Gear Gigant X
Gear Gigant X
EARTH Machine ★4
ATK 2300 / DEF 1500
Voltage of the Metal [UR]
2 Level 4 Machine-Type monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; add 1 Level 4 or lower Machine-Type monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. When this card leaves the field: You can target 1 Level 3 or lower "Geargia" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.

A great Extra Deck option for Machine decks. You can use this to search out Gearframe, which inturn leads to more searching.

Diamond Dire Wolf
Diamond Dire Wolf
EARTH Beast ★4
ATK 2000 / DEF 1200
Voltage of the Metal [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other card on the field; destroy them.

Summon Dire Wolf for a quick removal effect. Since all your monsters are Machine Type, Dire Wolf will have to target himself.

Gagaga Samurai
Gagaga Samurai
EARTH Warrior ★4
ATK 1900 / DEF 1600
Shining Hope [SR]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 "Gagaga" monster you control; it can make a second attack during each Battle Phase this turn. When another monster you control is targeted for an attack while this card is in Attack Position: You can change this card to Defense Position, and if you do, change the attack target to this card and perform damage calculation.

Summon Samurai when your opponent's field is empty to deal a ton of direct damage with his double attack.

Number 28: Titanic Moth
Number 28: Titanic Moth
FIRE Insect ★7
ATK 2400 / DEF 2200
Shark Fang [R]
2 Level 7 monsters
If you control no other monsters, this card can attack directly, but when it does so using this effect, the battle damage inflicted to your opponent is halved. When this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each card in their hand.

Summon Titanic Moth by using two Fortress as material. This can be a game-ending attack if your opponent is down to half their LP.

Summoning Titanic Moth can be achieved with this combo:

  1. Discard Megaform to summon Fortress.
  2. Use Buddy Force Unite to revive Megaform.
  3. Tribute Megaform to Special Summon a second Fortress.

Other useful cards

Concentrating Current
Concentrating Current
Quick Spell
Warriors Unite [SR]
Target 1 face-up monster you control; it gains ATK equal to its DEF, until the end of this turn. Other monsters you control cannot attack the turn you activate this card.

Can someone explain me the benefit of using Sky Striker Maneuver - Jamming Waves! Instead of 3 cosmic cyclones? Yeap, cc has a 1000lp cost but Sky Striker Maneuver - Jamming Waves! canbe a huge brick if you have already a monster on the field. This only benefirs new players since almost all cards come from the same mini box.

There's none. Jamming Waves is only ok if you go second after that it's just a brick.

Try combining Machina with Orcust

What about adding B-Buster Drake?

It's a F2P option.
Can search Gearframe who searches Fortress.
Can make the equipped monster immune to opponent's spell

Luke Reply
If you want to use B-Buster Drake, you must use Light Machine (Cyber Dragon and friends) in addition to your Machina Deck.
