Burning Abyss: deck recipe [Aug 19]

Duel Links Burning Abyss deck, Burning Abyss deck in the meta, how to play Burning Abyss deck.
update 19/08/2022

It has a card removal effect that almost works like Diamond Dire Wolf and a rank-up effect that works differently than just adding a higher rank on top of it.

You can use its effect to destroy Burning Abyss so you can trigger Burning Abyss monsters' effect while they sent to the grave.

But sometimes it's recommended to go after backrows first since it will be a huge problem if the monsters you special summoned get stopped by something like Floodgate Trap Hole or even Book of Moon.

Ghostrick Alucard
Ghostrick Alucard
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 1600
Photons of Galaxy [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Monsters your opponent controls cannot target face-up "Ghostrick" monsters, or any face-down Defense Position monsters, for attacks, except this one. You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Set card your opponent controls; destroy that target. You can only use this effect of "Ghostrick Alucard" once per turn. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 other "Ghostrick" card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand.

To destroy your opponent's backrow so you can more safely attack your opponent.

Number 20: Giga-Brilliant
Number 20: Giga-Brilliant
LIGHT Insect ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 1800
Number Hunter: Kite Tenjo Unlock Event [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; all face-up monsters you currently control gain 300 ATK.

To be used to rank up into Corebage only.

Digital Bug Corebage
Digital Bug Corebage
LIGHT Insect ★5
ATK 2200 / DEF 1800
Infinite Ray [R]
2 or more Level 5 LIGHT Insect-Type monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by detaching 2 Xyz Materials from a Rank 3 or 4 Insect-Type Xyz Monster you control, then using that Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Defense Position monster your opponent controls; shuffle it into the Deck. Once per turn, if the battle position of a monster(s) on the field is changed (except during the Damage Step): You can attach 1 Insect-Type monster from your Graveyard to this card as Xyz Material.

Useful as a follow-up after using Book of Moon on your opponent's monster, allowing you to remove a monster without having to attack.

Its effect to attach new materials will see some use if it survives since you will most likely be switching a defense position Dante to attack sometimes.

This month I got KOG on the third. This meta was very interesting. BA has very good matchups but the it requires you to understand the deck. Below are a few tips for the deck.

Game Play Tips:
The deck's main game plan is to go into Beatrice. If you are unable to try to just settle for Dante. The idea of the deck is to cycle with Cir and Dante while trying to control the board. I included Wightprincess and kiteroid to survive a turn. I also include BLS to be able to help with the mirror and banish two monsters The skill makes Farfa a board clearer for monsters that are very troublesome. I include the phantom knight and shark XZYs monsters to help steal games. Finally, most of the decks that I faced were Galaxy-Eyes and Luna Lights.

Matchups:
Mirror

  • The best way to win this matchup is to try to stop your opponent from setting up. BOM, karma cut, and other cards can help. BLS can help you steal games and get a double banish. This can be a 50-50 matchup. Some other cards I tried was super polymerization and make a muddragon. This can prevent your opponent from setting up and prevents a Farfa banish in retaliation.

DDD

  • This is another 50-50 matchup. The best play is to try to always have a CIR in rotation and look for an opening to clear the board. MST and cyclone can destroy the trap and the gate cards. D/D Dog can ruin you but most may not play it on the ladder. Finally, Kiteroid and weightprincess is very important in this matchup, since it can prevent otks and allow you to otk. Finally, attacking with shark in steal games if you can get them down to 1000 life points. Even with the trap they can not survive when they have to take the damage.

Galaxy-Eyes:

  • This is a 60-40 matchup in your favor. The best way to win is to try to banish the photon dragon. This can stop your opponent's play if they do not have to follow-up. If they do get up their negate, try to bait it out if possible. Photon Lord is a hard card to play around with since if you get an optimal hand you may still lose. BOM can help as well as a well-placed Farfa. Libic special summon can also help you get a Dante on board but if your opponent is smart you may not option. If they have backrow you may also have trouble but MST and cyclone can help clear the backrow. Finally, Kiteroid and weightprincess help you survive, but when you use them watch out for photon lord and only activate them in the battle phase. If you do not they can xyys summon over the monster.

Lunalights:

  • This is a very bad matchup and requires you to play very defensively. The idea is to try to cycle Cir and Dante and deck them out. Their only out is cat dancer and photon papilloprative for an otk. If you can recycle your resources and use your defense only when need you will win through deck out. If you see lethal make sure they do not have a hand trap or you will allow them to retaliate. I would say this is a 30-70 not in your favor and most times I faced it, I lost. Finally, be aware of Destiny Draw since it will allow them to search for any card.

It's a pretty basic Burning Abyss deck. You use your backrow and Dante to throw Malebranches into the Graveyard and use their effects. Alucard helps clear backrow, Corebage for just getting rid of annoying Defense position monsters etc.

I always save the replay whenever I mop the floor with these burning a s s players. That way I can post their L’s and let the whole community clown on them like they deserve.

Architect from duel links meta said “Burning Abyss rise to Tier 1. We all expect to see a bunch of BA in Top 128 and likely a few in Top 10. BA does well when people don't think it’s good but it will be interesting to see how BA does when under the spotlight.” The line “BA does well when people don’t think it’s good” absolutely doesn’t make any sense at all. Obviously the “writer” can’t decide what to say. Does it do well or is it not good? Just pick one. Whoever those people are in DL Meta seriously need a job.

Here’s what I would of wrote instead. Burning Abyss manage to reach to tier 1 with the help of the newly added Tour Guide and Beatrice. Thanks to Beatrice’s effect, you can send any card you want to the GY at anytime and this give players more options to control the field which lead them to add other BA monsters into their deck for more support and if you manage to get your opponent’s LP 1/2

Lower than 500, using Barbar’s effect will finish off the opponent without worrying about the cards they have. There is no doubt on how effective they are when utilizing the effects of send cards to GY. While banishing monsters with the help of Mind of the Plana is key, players will have to worry about the back row and need to be carful not to accidentally send back row removing cards into the 2/3

GY when needed. This deck is an interesting one. It is a good control deck for getting rid of an opponent’s certain monster and a easy access to Xyz summoning. However is it possible that the ban list will make some changes in the future. If a tier 1 deck is that good, it must go down to 2 or 3 at least that’s how we see other decks in the past. For now BA remain on top for PVP play. 3/3

Well since everyone is hyped and biased towards BA since it has been a staple in the tcg since it came out I'll say it the deck is bad right now in duel links the new support doesn't do anything to make the deck competitive against the current meta decks since pivotal cards are still missing
<< Anonymous

Did anyone actually expect them to be good? I don't play the tcg but it has probably better support, burning abyss cards in latest pack never seemed even tiered

People do a lot of crafting/optimizing right now with xzy (mainly insects) with very mixed results apparently the deck struggles against blue eyes due to its low power level of 2500 atk

Man this deck is just bad low attack ceiling of 2500 way too heavy on resource usage for monsters that stand no chance against current decks the tuner that basically allows you to only summon Virgil and no other syncros so you're basically locked out of generic syncros like brionac and unless the effect on the field are negated you cannot use BA with non BA monsters way to go Konami not to giving tour guide to us oh wait it will be UR in a super sh++y main box thank you for playing yugioh duellinks

Thank you for apologizing. I appreciate it. Also I don’t hate Nintendo anymore. I didn’t realize how great they are and now realize that Minecraft is not the first game. I was playing Mario Kart 64 earlier, it was awesome!

Calcab as an R in that box would have made the deck way better but nope selection box it is

Graff would have been much better than some of the new BA cards >:(

Scarm should be SR and Graff should take the UR spot. BA is very slow without Graff.

They only needto release the restof the archtype in the next 6 boxes so this deck would be an expensive meta
