LIGHT Warrior ★8
ATK 3000 / DEF 2500
Shining Sunrise [UR]
Selection Box Vol.05 [UR]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 1 LIGHT and 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard. Once per turn, you can activate 1 of these effects.

● Target 1 monster on the field; banish that target face-up. This card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.
● If this attacking card destroys an opponent's monster by battle, after damage calculation: It can make a second attack in a row.

Easily special summonable in this deck since there are LIGHT (Wightprincess) and DARK (Burning Abyss Monsters). Its effect is pretty decent for either monster removal or as an OTK option due to it's High 3000 ATK stat.

Tour Guide From the Underworld

Tour Guide From the Underworld
Tour Guide From the Underworld
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 600
Bundle Set Sale [UR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend monster from your hand or Deck, but negate its effects, also it cannot be used as Synchro Material.

A Strong Instant Rank 3 Card which can support this Deck brilliantly. Tour Guide can allows you to summon Dante quickly and set up combo.

Fiendish Rhino Warrior

Fiendish Rhino Warrior
Fiendish Rhino Warrior
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1400 / DEF 900
Maximum Gustav [SR]
Fiend-Type monsters you control, except "Fiendish Rhino Warrior", cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 1 Fiend-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, except "Fiendish Rhino Warrior". You can only use this effect of "Fiendish Rhino Warrior" once per turn.

Fiendish Rhino Warrior's effect not only will it protect those "Burning Abyss" monsters from battle or self-destruction but it can also allows you to mill an extra "Burning Abyss" monster and trigger their second effect when sent to the Graveyard (including if it is detached as an Xyz Material).

Burning Abyss Monsters

Burning Abyss main deck monsters are all level 3 and have similar effects. Each turn, you can activate their effects to either special summon them when you have no spell/trap cards on the field or activate their sent to the graveyard effect.

Since they can all special summon themselves, it makes it very easy to Xyz into a rank 3 Xyz, which is going to be Dante. Dante has a milling effect to trigger BA's sent to graveyard effect for some combo or extended plays.

Quick notes on BA monsters' sent to graveyard effects:

  • Scarm: Search for a level 3 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your deck. But this activates during the end phase.
  • Farfa: Targets a monster on the field and banish it until the end phase.
  • Alich: Negates 1 face-up monster on the field until the end phase.
  • Cir: Can special summon a BA monster from the grave (other than itself), which includes Dante or Vergil.
  • Libic: Special summon a level 3 DARK Fiend-Type from your hand, but its effects are negated.
  • Rubic has no sent to graveyard effect, but it's the only tuner in the deck so you can make Virgil.

Make sure to use a normal summon on the BA monster that you want to activate the sent to graveyard effect before making an Xyz/synchro. If you go into an Xyz like Dante, you'll want to use the one you normal summoned as the cost to activate the effect so you get the normal summoned BA's sent to grave effect.

Cir is almost always the one to be normal summoned since its effect can extend your plays. Scarm is good for turn 1, while Farfa is if you want to make an offensive play.

Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 800 / DEF 2000
Fantastic Arc [UR]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● During the End Phase, if this card is in the Graveyard because it was sent there this turn: You can add 1 Level 3 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Scarm, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss".

The search effect is pretty slow since it works during the end phase. But thanks to the Beatrice effect, you can add another Burning Abyss monster during your opponent's End Phase.

Search for Cir so you can sort of loop Cir and Scarm combo, or Farfa so you can prevent milling all of them from the deck right away. If you only bring 1 Rubic, then Scarm is the only reliable way to get it from the deck.

Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 1900
Fantastic Arc [R]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Farfa, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 monster on the field; banish it until the End Phase.

Even though the banish effect is only temporary, it's still useful to remove certain monsters so you can attack directly.

Keep in mind that this can also banish your own cards. If you get turn 1 and use Dante's effect to mill the deck, you'll need to carefully read if it's Farfa or not. Otherwise, Farfa will remove your Dante from the field and lose the leftover material.

Putting Farfa in as an Xyz material is the safest place to put it since it will always get sent to the grave if your Xyz monster gets removed through any forms of removal.

During your turn, you can use its effect to banish your opponent's monster and use the skill to permanently remove them out of the game.

Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1600 / DEF 1200
Fantastic Arc [SR]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Burning Abyss" monster in your Graveyard, except "Cir, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss"; Special Summon it.

You can revive Farfa so you can store it in Dante as a safety net in case your Dante gets destroyed, or revive Scarm so you can search for another Cir and do a slow loop.

Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1300 / DEF 700
Antinomic Theory [R]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Libic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.
● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 DARK Fiend-Type monster from your hand, but its effects are negated.

If you get turn 2, this can be a "safe" card to normal summon since this plays around card removal cards your opponent might have like Ballista Squad or even Treacherous Trap Hole, allowing you to potentially shrug it off and make a different play, or at the very least, not leave you defenseless.

Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1200 / DEF 0
Fantastic Arc [N]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Alich, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.

● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.
● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field; negate its effects until the end of this turn.

You can reliably send this from the deck to the grave with Fiend Griefing. It's almost as effective as Farfa to stop your opponent's combos during their turn, so this essentially lets you have multiple disruptions in case you milled all of the Farfas or Alichs.

However, Farfa's effect is generally better since removing them means they can't use them to Xyz, synchro, or tributed.

Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 100 / DEF 2100
Fantastic Arc [N]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. Cannot be used as a Synchro Material, except for the Synchro Summon of a "Burning Abyss" Synchro Monster. If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. You can only use this effect of "Rubic, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" once per turn.

It's the only tuner in the deck so its main purpose is to simply let you synchro into Virgil.

Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1700 / DEF 1000
Antinomic Theory [N]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target up to 3 "Burning Abyss" cards in your Graveyard, except "Barbar, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss"; banish them, and if you do, inflict 300 damage to your opponent for each.

Pretty decent stats with 1700 ATK which can be used as beater in some situation. Its second effect will able to burn max. 900 Life Points to your opponents which used to end game while your opponent has 900 Life Points or below.

Crane Crane

Crane Crane
Crane Crane
EARTH Winged Beast ★3
ATK 300 / DEF 900
Tour Guides Mission Bingo Event [UR]
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can target 1 Level 3 monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target, but its effects are negated. You can only use this effect of "Crane Crane" once per turn.

This card is obtainable from certain UR tickets that can give previous event reward cards.

Since the monster special summoned is negated, the BA monsters won't be able to self-destruct, allowing this to become a 1 card Xyz enabler.

If you get turn 1, you can still use Crane Crane by special summoning a BA from your hand before normal summoning Crane Crane. This will destroy the BA on the field before Crane Crane's effect activates.

Keep in mind that if you have these monsters on the field, you won't be able to summon any of the level 3 BA monsters since they will self-destruct, but you can still make a play if you have Crane Crane.

Wightprincess

Wightprincess
Wightprincess
DARK Zombie ★3
ATK 1600 / DEF 0
Energy of Gigarays [R]
This card’s name becomes "Skull Servant" while it is in the Graveyard. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 "Wightprince" from your Deck to the Graveyard. During either player's turn: You can send this card from your hand or field to the Graveyard; all monsters currently on the field lose ATK and DEF equal to their own Level/Rank x 300, until the end of this turn.

Can be used during either players' turn makes this card more useful to prevent OTK from your opponent by reducing their ATK regarding to their own Level/Rank.

Extra Decks

Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss
Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss
LIGHT Spellcaster ★6
ATK 2500 / DEF 1000
Fantastic Arc [SR]
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
You can only control 1 "Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss". Once per turn: You can discard 1 "Burning Abyss" card, then target 1 card your opponent controls or in their Graveyard; shuffle it into the Deck. If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss" once per turn.

Has a pretty strong form of removal and 2500 base ATK, which is the deck's highest ATK.

Unlike the other BA monsters, Virgil's last effect only works when he is destroyed instead of just sent to the grave. This makes him a decent candidate to revive with Cir as a blocker if your opponent can still attack and you have yet to use the draw effect.

Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss
Dante, Traveler of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1000 / DEF 2500
Fantastic Arc [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card and choose a number from 1 to 3, then send that many cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard; until the end of this turn, this card gains 500 ATK for each card sent to the Graveyard this way. If this card attacks, it is changed to Defense Position at the end of the Battle Phase. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 "Burning Abyss" card in your Graveyard, except this card; add it to your hand.

The main monster to make with the BA monsters. Dante is an enabler that has a milling effect to trigger more BA monsters that are sent from the deck to the grave. His sent to grave effect lets him recover a BA from the grave, and it's not limited to once per turn.

Dante has low base ATK but can get up to 2500 if you mill 3 cards. If you want to avoid triggering your opponent's Destiny Draw, you can mill only 1 card to deal 1500 damage.

Ideally, you want to make Dante with Cir as one of his materials. This way, when Dante gets removed, Cir will go to the grave so it can special summon another BA from the grave so you won't be left defenseless.

If Dante is sent to the grave, Cir can special summon Dante again back to the field. This is only useful if your opponent can attack again to destroy Dante to recover another BA from the grave. Otherwise, reviving Dante is not going to be useful since he doesn't have any material to use his effect.

Number 47: Nightmare Shark
Number 47: Nightmare Shark
WATER Fish ★3
ATK 2000 / DEF 2000
Reginald Kastle Unlock Event [UR]
2 Level 3 monsters
When this card is Special Summoned: You can attach 1 Level 3 WATER monster from your hand or your side of the field to this card as an Xyz Material. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 WATER monster you control; this turn, that monster can attack your opponent directly, also other monsters cannot attack.

Lets you bypass monsters that are difficult to deal with so you can hit for 2000 damage.

Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal
LIGHT Fairy ★6
ATK 2500 / DEF 2800
Heart of Xyz
2 Level 6 monsters
You can also Xyz Summon this card by sending 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your hand to the Graveyard, then using 1 "Dante" monster you control as the Xyz Material. (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If Summoned this way, the following effect cannot be activated this turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard. If this card in your possession is destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your Extra Deck, ignoring its Summoning conditions.

A great core card which is available in the 40th mini box, Heart of Xyz. Beatrice, Lady of the Eternal (Speed 2 effect) works great that can allows you to sent Burning Abyss monsters to the Graveyard during your opponent's turn.

This effect will trigger Burning Abyss' monster effect which can let you setup the board easier and faster, even sometimes you can disrupt your opponent as well.

Non-BA Extra Deck Monsters

Super Quantal Mech Beast Grampulse
Super Quantal Mech Beast Grampulse
WATER Machine ★3
ATK 1800 / DEF 2800
Shining Sunrise [SR]
2 Level 3 monsters
Cannot attack unless it has Xyz Material. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy it. This effect can be activated during either player's turn, if this card has "Super Quantum Blue Layer" as Xyz Material. Once per turn: You can attach 1 "Super Quantum" monster from your hand or field to this card as an Xyz Material.

To destroy your opponent's backrow so you can more safely attack your opponent or combo setup.

Other Cards Option

Cagna Combo

Dumping Cagna to the Graveyard for triggering its effect to sent Good & Evil in the Burning Abyss from your Deck to Graveyard. Then, you can banish Good & Evil for searching Burning Abyss monster by sending 1 Burning Abyss monster from your hand which is good for triggering BA monster's effect.

Cagna, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss
DARK Fiend ★3
ATK 1500 / DEF 300
Antinomic Theory [N]
If you control a monster that is not a "Burning Abyss" monster, destroy this card. You can only use 1 of these effects of "Cagna, Malebranche of the Burning Abyss" per turn, and only once that turn.● If you control no Spell/Trap Cards: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.● If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can send 1 "Burning Abyss" Spell/Trap Card from your Deck to the Graveyard.
Good & Evil in the Burning Abyss
Good & Evil in the Burning Abyss
Ritual Spell
Antinomic Theory [N]
This card is used to Ritual Summon "Malacoda, Netherlord of the Burning Abyss". You must also Tribute monsters from your hand or field whose total Levels equal 6 or more. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard and send 1 "Burning Abyss" monster from your hand to the Graveyard; add 1 "Burning Abyss" card from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Good & Evil in the Burning Abyss" once per turn.

Target 1 face-up monster on the field; change that target to face-down Defense Position.

Useful to disrupt your opponent's plays or to avoid certain dangerous cards by using it on your own monster.

Against a face-down monster, you can follow it up by using 2 BA monsters to Xyz into Giga-Brilliant and Corebage to remove them without having to attack.

Lightning Vortex

Ranked Rewards [SR]
Activate 1 of these effects.● Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; change that target's battle position.● Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; take control of that target until the End Phase.

To disrupt your opponent's plays, tribute your monster so you can trigger a BA monster's sent to graveyard effects, or to get rid of a non-BA monster on your field.

Slight benefit if you end up in a mirror match as well since you'll be able to use your opponent's monster to Xyz or synchro. Otherwise, taking control of your opponent's non-BA monster can be bad if your other monsters are the level 3 ones that can self-destruct.

Use Cir to special summon Farfa to the field so you can tribute it with Enemy Controller so you can stop 2 of your opponent's monsters during their turn.

You can also use this on your Xyz monster if they have a BA material to trigger the BA's sent to graveyard effect.

Ballista Squad
Ballista Squad
Normal Trap
Fortress of Gears [UR]
Selection Box Vol.04 [UR]
Tribute 1 monster, then target 1 card your opponent controls; destroy it.

A simple card removal effect. You can special summon multiple BA monsters the previous turn so that you have multiple blockers and enable the sent to grave effect during your opponent's turn.

Alternatively, it's also fine to use this by sacrificing your Dante since the materials will get sent to the grave and activate their effects as well. If you have Farfa as one of the materials, this will let you destroy a card from the Ballista Squad and also banish a monster to stop combos.

Monster negating card to disrupt your opponent and comes with a small added benefit that it can also be used in the grave. This makes it less punishing if you accidentally mill it with Dante.

Can potentially disrupt your opponent's plays if they need certain cards in the grave. But even if they don't, this lets you dump a specific BA monster so you can make some plays.

Farfa is always useful to stop combos, Scarm as a follow-up, or Cir to make some plays.

Architect from duel links meta said “Burning Abyss rise to Tier 1. We all expect to see a bunch of BA in Top 128 and likely a few in Top 10. BA does well when people don't think it’s good but it will be interesting to see how BA does when under the spotlight.” The line “BA does well when people don’t think it’s good” absolutely doesn’t make any sense at all. Obviously the “writer” can’t decide what to say. Does it do well or is it not good? Just pick one. Whoever those people are in DL Meta seriously need a job.

Here’s what I would of wrote instead. Burning Abyss manage to reach to tier 1 with the help of the newly added Tour Guide and Beatrice. Thanks to Beatrice’s effect, you can send any card you want to the GY at anytime and this give players more options to control the field which lead them to add other BA monsters into their deck for more support and if you manage to get your opponent’s LP 1/2

Lower than 500, using Barbar’s effect will finish off the opponent without worrying about the cards they have. There is no doubt on how effective they are when utilizing the effects of send cards to GY. While banishing monsters with the help of Mind of the Plana is key, players will have to worry about the back row and need to be carful not to accidentally send back row removing cards into the 2/3

GY when needed. This deck is an interesting one. It is a good control deck for getting rid of an opponent’s certain monster and a easy access to Xyz summoning. However is it possible that the ban list will make some changes in the future. If a tier 1 deck is that good, it must go down to 2 or 3 at least that’s how we see other decks in the past. For now BA remain on top for PVP play. 3/3

Man this deck is just bad low attack ceiling of 2500 way too heavy on resource usage for monsters that stand no chance against current decks the tuner that basically allows you to only summon Virgil and no other syncros so you're basically locked out of generic syncros like brionac and unless the effect on the field are negated you cannot use BA with non BA monsters way to go Konami not to giving tour guide to us oh wait it will be UR in a super sh++y main box thank you for playing yugioh duellinks

Well since everyone is hyped and biased towards BA since it has been a staple in the tcg since it came out I'll say it the deck is bad right now in duel links the new support doesn't do anything to make the deck competitive against the current meta decks since pivotal cards are still missing
