If you Tribute Summon an "Ancient Gear" monster, you can substitute this card for a Tribute(s), if the number of counters is equal to or greater than the number of required Tribute(s).

Pros

Increases all Ancient Gear Monsters ATK by 300 permanently as long as this card is on the field.
Able to be substituted with enough number of Counters to summon higher level Ancient Gear monsters.

Cons

It also increases your opponent’s Ancient Gear Monsters ATK.
Once you used this card to summon higher level Ancient Gear monsters, you lose the ATK bonus.
Potentially clogs your backrow if you run another copy of Ancient Gear Castle, or multiple copies of Traps.

Tips, Related Cards, Rulings

Don’t substitute Ancient Gear Castle unless it is necessary because the ATK increase is very useful to boost your foot soldiers such as Ancient -Gear Knight and Ancient Gear Soldier.
Try to utilize the substitution for Ancient Gear Golem as much as possible as it compensates your lack of ATK power after you lost Ancient Gear Castle.

PLEASE, for the love of christ, remove this damn card! You add gladiator beasts, and fail to add test tiger and gyzarus, but noooo, we'll add a 3000 atk (3300 with this card), stops all spells and traps during battle phase (effectively negating 80% of countering cards in the game), piercing damage. Like, go absolutely 🔥 yourself! If this is allowed in game, it should be strictly allowed for pve and banned in PvP.

Hands down, I bet the top ranked players will have AG decks.

It IS a powerful deck, but like a lot of decks that run tributes its very prone to bricking, s/t removal, and Flood gate. There are faster more versatile decks now that can easily counter gear and other good decks.

1 card nets you 300 attack boost and a free 3k/3k monster that ignores spells and traps during the battle phase without the need of a tribute one tour second turn essentially. Seems balanced

well blue eyes/red eyes have CV protections
daikini have MAR and soon Hymm of light
(and both can get their boss monster out in turn 1)

as for AGG bringing it out is considered slow as compare to 'em.

Yes you should, this is one of the best supports for Ancient Gears as of now since their decks usually consists of a lot of high level monsters like Golem, Beast or Engineer.

Yeah it literally means 2 counters can me some Golem action as it equals 2 tributes.
