With the help of Obedience Schooled, the low-level beasts can have easy access to the extra deck. The main deck monsters don't have high ATK, but banding together to make a Sandayu ensures they have the upper hand when it comes to battle, as well as having a powerful negate ability via The Fabled Unicore when they synchro.
[Skill] description | User |
---|---|
The Tie that Binds Until the end of you turn, the ATK of all face-up monsters on your field increases by the number of monsters on your field times 100. This skill can only be used once per turn. | Common |
The Fabled Cerburrel | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF 400 |
Revolution Beginning [UR] | |
If this card is discarded to the Graveyard: Special Summon it. |
The ideal turn 1 is if you get Obedience Schooled in your starting hand. Their effects are negated but you can still use Cerburrel to synchro into The Fabled Unicore.
The other monsters in the deck can special summon Cerburrel as well, so you don't need to necessarily summon it turn 1 with Obedience Schooled.
Keep in mind that if you only run 1 copy of a level 4 synchro then Cerburrel being a level 2 tuner is only useful once in a duel.
Raccoons specialize in Special Summoning Level-2 Beasts from the Deck. Like any Xyz spam Decks, the idea is to get materials on the field to quickly make Extra Deck plays.
Baby Raccoon Ponpoko | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 800 / DEF 0 |
Eternal Stream [R] | |
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 2 Beast-Type monster from your Deck in face-down Defense Position, except "Baby Raccoon Ponpoko". You cannot Special Summon any monsters during the turn you activate this effect, except Beast-Type monsters. |
Ponpoko Special Summons monsters from the Deck face-down which is a bit of a problem because you can't use face-down monsters as Xyz or Synchro materials. Additionally, face-down monsters can't activate effects which is another problem because you can't activate effects like Valerifawn. So the best thing you can Special Summon face-down is Tantan.
Baby Raccoon Tantan | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 0 / DEF 800 |
Eternal Stream [R] | |
FLIP: Special Summon 1 Level 2 Beast-Type monster from your Deck, except "Baby Raccoon Tantan". |
Tantan is more versatile than Ponpoko just because the ability to Special Summon monsters face-up lets you do much more with the Special Summoned monster. Also because this Special Summoning will usually occur during the opponent's Battle Phase, Kalantosa and Melffy Pony are great targets.
Kalantosa, Mystical Beast of the Forest | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 200 / DEF 1400 |
Ranked Rewards [R] | |
If this card is Special Summoned by the effect of a Beast-Type monster: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy that target. |
Kalantosa is easy to Special Summon with effects like Melffy Pony, Tantan, and Valerifawn. This gives you a free removal effect which is great just before you make your Xyz play.
Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 400 / DEF |
Secrets of the Ancients [N] Eternal Stream [N] | |
You can discard 1 card, then target 1 Level 2 or lower Beast-Type monster in your Graveyard, except "Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest"; Special Summon it in Attack Position or face-down Defense Position. You can only use this effect of "Valerifawn, Mystical Beast of the Forest" once per turn. |
Valerifawn revives another monster which you can use together with it to make an Xyz play. To further extend your field, you can discard Cerburrel which will revive itself. This can result in Melffy Mommy with 3 materials attached already.
Valerifawn is a good monster to recover with Melffy Pony, because she is arguably your best Xyz enabler.
Obedience Schooled | Normal Trap |
Land of the Titans [SR] | |
If you control no monsters: Special Summon 3 Level 2 or lower Beast-Type Effect Monsters with different names from your Deck. Their effects are negated, and they are destroyed during the End Phase. If you activate this card, you cannot Special Summon for the rest of this turn, except Beast-Type monsters. |
Basically just spams your field with monsters. Since the monsters are destroyed during the End Phase make sure you use them all up for Extra Deck plays. During the turn you activate Obedience Schooled, you'll easily end up making two Extra Deck monsters.
Warning Point | Normal Trap |
Link Revolution [UR] | |
When a monster(s) is Summoned: This turn, that face-up monster(s) cannot attack, its effects are negated, also it cannot be used as material for a Fusion, Synchro, Xyz, or Link Summon. |
Bottomless Trap Hole | Normal Trap |
Future Circuit [UR] Selection Box Vol.05 [UR] | |
When your opponent Summons a monster(s) with 1500 or more ATK: Destroy that monster(s) with 1500 or more ATK, and if you do, banish it. |
Needle Ceiling | Normal Trap |
Valiant Souls [UR] Selection Box Vol.04 [UR] | |
When there are 4 or more monsters on the field: Destroy all face-up monsters. |
Karma Cut | Normal Trap |
Arena of Sanctuary [SR] Selection Box Vol. 02 Mini [SR] | |
Discard 1 card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; banish that target, then banish all cards with the same name as that monster from your opponent's Graveyard. |
The Fabled Unicore | LIGHT Beast ★4 ATK 2300 / DEF 1000 |
Curse of Dread [SR] | |
1 "Fabled" Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters While you and your opponent have the same number of cards in hand, negate all Spell, Trap and Effect Monster effects activated by your opponent, and destroy that Spell/Trap/Monster. |
Unicore's effect is very powerful when active, but the problem is the effect is a bit difficult to activate. Melffy Pony can somewhat be used to increase the number of cards in your hand if lacking, and generic techs with discard costs can reduce your hand if you have too many.
Note: the effect of "The Fabled Unicore" can negate effects and destroy them even if both players have 0 cards in their hands.
The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin | DARK Warrior ★2 ATK 1600 / DEF 0 |
Yuto at Lvl 21 and 30 [UR] | |
2 Level 2 monsters You can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; until the end of this turn, change its ATK to 0, also negate its effects. This is a Quick Effect if this card has a "The Phantom Knights" card as material. You can only use this effect of "The Phantom Knights of Cursed Javelin" once per turn. |
As long as your opponent's monster can be targeted, this can help you get over them. Since Deskbots can get a lot of ATK boosts, turning their ATK to 0 can potentially lead to an OTK.
Number 64: Ronin Raccoon Sandayu | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 |
Eternal Stream [SR] | |
2 Level 2 Beast-Type monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; Special Summon 1 "Kagemusha Raccoon Token" (Beast-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK ?/DEF 0). (When Summoned, its ATK becomes equal to the current ATK of the monster on the field that has the highest ATK. Your choice, if tied.) While you control another Beast-Type monster, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects. |
Sandayu Special Summons a beater in the form of a token. Since they'll be as strong as the strongest monster, you can crash them into the opponent's monster for removal. Having this Token on the field also acts as protection for Sandayu, allowing it to stay on the field to generate a second beater.
If you're running the deck with "The Tie that Binds" skill, you'll always have a slight advantage when it comes to attacking. If your opponent has the highest ATK monster, activate Sandayu first before using the skill. If you have the highest ATK then simply activate the skill first before Sandayu.
Make sure you copy the opponent's strongest ATK before you get rid of their monster with Super Rush Recklessly.
Daigusto Phoenix | WIND Pyro ★2 ATK 1500 / DEF 1100 |
Stage of Trickstar [SR] Selection Box Vol.05 [SR] | |
2 Level 2 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up WIND monster you control; this turn, it can attack twice during each Battle Phase. |
If your opponent has no monster and backrow, you can Xyz into this so you can attack twice to deal 3000 damage.
Knightmare Unicorn | DARK Fiend ATK 2200 / DEF 3 |
Future Circuit [UR] | |
2+ monsters with different names If this card is Link Summoned: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 card on the field; shuffle it into the Deck, then, if this card was co-linked when this effect was activated, you can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Knightmare Unicorn" once per turn. While any co-linked "Knightmare" monsters are on the field, for your normal draw in your Draw Phase, draw 1 card for each different card name among those co-linked "Knightmare" monsters, instead of drawing just 1 card. |
This Link 3 Knightmare Monster not only allows you to shuffle 1 card on either player's board back into Deck (this effect will prevent some card effect trigger action for Graveyard/Floating effect) when it is Link Summoned. Unicorn's co-linked effect will allow you to have 1 Card Draw.
Knightmare Phoenix | FIRE Fiend ATK 1900 / DEF 2 |
Future Circuit [SR] | |
2 monsters with different names If this card is Link Summoned: You can discard 1 card, then target 1 Spell/Trap your opponent controls; destroy it, then, if this card was co-linked when this effect was activated, you can draw 1 card. You can only use this effect of "Knightmare Phoenix" once per turn. Co-linked monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. |
A Link 2 Knightmare Monster owns Backrow Removal Effect by discarding 1 card (this effect can combo with Cerburrel). Phoenix's co-linked effect will allow you to have 1 Card Draw and Battle Destruction Protection.
Melffy Pony | EARTH Beast ★2 ATK 400 / DEF 0 |
Eternal Stream [R] | |
If your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s) (except during the Damage Step), or this card is targeted for an attack by an opponent's monster: You can return this card to the hand, then you can add 1 Level 2 or lower Beast monster from your GY to your hand, except "Melffy Pony". During your End Phase: You can Special Summon this card from your hand. You can only use each effect of "Melffy Pony" once per turn. |
The Melffy archetype is also composed of Level-2 Beasts so they mix really well with Raccoons. Melffy Pony in particular can be run as this Deck's recovery engine. Temporarily returning to your hand is somewhat good for making sure Pony survives till your next turn where it can be used as Xyz material.
Melffy Mommy | LIGHT Spellcaster ★2 ATK 1000 / DEF 1000 |
Eternal Stream [R] | |
2+ Level 2 Beast monsters Once per turn (Quick Effect): You can attach 1 Beast monster from your hand or face-up field to this card as material. This card gains effects based on the number of materials attached to it. ● 3+: Cannot be destroyed by battle. ● 4+: You take no damage from battles involving this card. ● 5+: When an attack is declared involving this card and an Attack Position monster: You can inflict damage to your opponent equal to that Attack Position monster's ATK. |
Melffy Mommy is a bit different from other Xyz monsters because instead of detaching materials you're attaching more materials to it. This means that it can be quite expensive and might take a while to build her up. In the end you'll have a wall indestructible by battle, which you can use offensively for massive burn damage.
The downside is she doesn't have any form of protection from effects so she is still quite easy to get rid of even with a lot of investment.
This can also be a good way to control the number of cards you have in hand for Fabled Unicorn's effect to work.
Super Rush Recklessly | Normal Trap |
Secrets of the Ancients [R] | |
Target 1 Beast-Type monster you control and 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy the first target, and if you do, shuffle the second target into the Deck. |
Destroying your own monster isn't really a problem since you'll be Special Summoning a lot of them anyway. And because the Main Deck Beasts aren't likely to survive the battle, it's better to take the opponent's monster down with them.
Number 45: Crumble Logos the Prophet of Demolition | EARTH Zombie ★2 ATK 2200 / DEF 0 |
Shark Fang [R] | |
2 or more Level 2 monsters Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then target 1 other face-up card on the field; while this monster is face-up on the field, that target has its effects negated. While that target is on the field, cards with the same name as that target, and their effects, cannot be activated. |
Good amount of versatility since you can negate any face-up cards, which can be quite useful to negate field spells, same name monsters like Harpies or Cyber Dragons, or Dark Magical Circle.
Shining Elf | WIND Spellcaster ★2 ATK 1600 / DEF 1000 |
Shining Hope [R] | |
2 Level 2 monsters When your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s) (except during the Damage Step): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; that monster(s) loses 500 ATK. |
Most of the monsters in the deck don't have high ATK, making them hard to deal with high ATK monsters. This can help lower them to make it easier, or to reduce the damage that you'd take.
