Skill Details

Your starting hand will reflect the card balance of your deck. This Skill will not activate unless you have at least 6 of each type of card (Monster, Spell, and Trap) in your Deck. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

What do you mean that a lot of people don't use it? Balance is the No.1 skill in the popularity ranking. I am betting that a massive nerf will come on this month end after KC. Dec banlist they nerfed all the broken decks - Invoked, DM, Shiranui, Crystron, Karakuri.. I am happy that they are finally serious with the banlist.

Thunder Dragons are annoying af and don't use balance either. The most used ranking doesn't always mean anything since it usually makes up a good chunk of lower rank play in ranked and KC. Noble Knights are overrated and had to have a bunch of decks nerfed to hell and back just to be good. If anything it will just get the "hey trunade hit".

I think I understand how the updated Balance skill works now. You are given a percentage of the type of cards that will go in your starting hand. So let's say you have a 20 card deck with 15 monsters and 5 spells. That means you have a 75% chance of obtaining a monster card and a 25% chance of obtaining a spell card. Unlike the old balance skill, where this setup gives you 100% chance of having 3 monster cards and 100% chance of having 1 spell card, this change means you have more randomness and your deck will no longer be as consistent as it used to.
That kinda sucks tbh. Haha

This is basic math. If your deck was set up that way, those would be the chances of getting those cards..... using balance or not.

Then this skill would be meaningless. Even without this skill, your chance of drawing a spell card is 25% already, when 1/4 of your deck are spell cards.

They nerfed balance earlier but it is still the most used skill now. Every single user know that this is currently the most broken skill. Starting hand manipulation should not be allowed.

You start your hand with 4 tuner monsters. We just need this.

Dm playstyle was like cheating with balance. However, dm decks needed a turn to set their field and if circle was gone they was an auto loss. On the other hand nk can be explosive in their first turn. Going 1st or 2nd is the same for them.
A good nerf for balance could be "you can't summon any moster in your first turn", just like the nerfing of "duel stand by".

DM still got a lot of play with destiny draw, sealed tombs, born from earth, master of rites, etc. compared to noble knights with balance. So it wasn't as big a thing. Book of moon could be a different story (no pun intended) for balance.

Main character got skill that can fuse whatever the fck they want. Eg: Yugi fuse his Golden Mammoth with Kaiba BEUD so Kaiba can't attack with it and get 1000 dmg per turn. Get your fact straight. Rofl

Yugi cheating with Destiny Draw is fine imo. My favorite part was in his duel against Mako, when he attacked his own Mysterious Moon (that stayed on the field when the equipped monster was destroyed) with his Stone Soldier, causing Umi to return to Makos half of the field, causing his monsters to strand on the now dry field, get destroyed and make Mako lose the duel. That is some cheating bs xD

Yeah its super dif from the actual card game we play but if you watch the original season zero Yu-Gi-Oh you would notice that fields and field spells are actually a huge part of the game. So I feel like after watching season zero it kind of makes sense a little bit more.

heh everyone using balance these days: triamid, aromage, noble knight, satellarknight, etc. If they can't build a deck of 20 cards by themselves I can't imagine what they would do in tcg.

Well at least konami will put an eye on it again, closer to a nerf to render it useless

In the revamped Balance skill - is the 4th card always random or can you predetermine that one too, e.g. by having 12 monsters, 6 spells and 6 traps, so that you always get 2 monsters, 1 spell and 1 trap?

We use balance to improve consistency. And apparently konami's smart peoples don't like it. So they nerfed it so that even with 12 6 6 it's still don't guarantee your opening hand MST ratio. It's a "balance" skill that don't guarantee opening band's balance.

Konami is smart. Don't complain.

Konami didn't implement this when they nerfed Duel Standby, so that people abuse Amano Iwato.

Did you mean Triamid Hunter? Its extra normal summon is continuous, not an activated effect.
On the other hand, with balance skill, Triamid Dancer cannot activate its effect during 1st turn.
