No, you and other guys using Gladiator Beast, as well as Amazoness-Maniacs, reached KOG because of the backrows.

Hoplomus is used as risk management and field presence. He can be use to contact fusion out for bigger Gladiators when needed. Gladiator decks only need one Hoplomus.
