Pros

  • Takes control of an opponent's monster.

Cons

  • You do not immediately get your opponent's monster.
  • You essentially take a direct attack from the monster.

Tips

  • You will need to take the full damage to steal your opponent's monster. If for some reason the damage is negated or reduced, you will not be able to banish and steal your opponent's monster.

Heal lots of LP

In decks like Aromage or Fairies, you can find yourself in situations where you have tons of LP but nothing to really do with it. In this case Memory of an Adversary could be useful for gaining advantage and building a board presense. Ideally you are able to steal a powerful monster or even your opponent's boss monster.

Reduce Attack

You can use cards like Mirror Wall or Wall of Disruption to lower the opponent's attack so that you take less damage. Since you did take the full damage your opponent's monster while it was on the field, the monster will be banished and will still be special summoned to your field with it's debuffs removed.

...To defeat evil, I must become a greater evil.

I've seen such behavior in plenty of series, quite an interesting behavior...

Essentially saying that both concepts don't have a meaning. It's just a clashing of subjective ideals.

Use this and then chain Wall of Disruption. The monster loses the attack, and then is banished immediately, but will not retain the reduction when you control the monster. Wall of disruption in this case instead reduces the damage you take, and reduces the attack of your opponents other monsters, if any. However, it is a two card trap combo that clogs up backrow and is on the expensive side cardwise, so take this how you will.

Yeah, nullify the damage and then the monster does not get banished and you just wasted this card for nothing.

Something weird happened. My opponent banished my Anki with this card, but at the end of my next turn it activated but Anki wasn’t special summoned on their side of the field, even though they had room for it. Is this a glitch?

It is the era where you must not attack at all unless you cleared the trap zone and go for OTK.

The new TTH, though the old one still lives.

I expect this will find it's way to the limited list in a while. Konami done 🔥ed up with this card. May as well join the party I guess.

This card will see just as much play as Drowning Mirror Force, it's not an issue at all in a 4000 LP format.

WAAAAY too slow for it to be the new TTH. It's begging to be Providence'd at the end phase of the opponent's turn.

What if Honda's Ace monster is Gagagigo the Risen?

Still expecting Tristan's ace, if anything, to be Command Knight personally.

Or Acrobat Monkey. I could see them doing that, too. Sadly.

You all know that this card will be a pain in the 🔥 when using against you but extremely fun when using against your opponent, right?

Yes.

This card offers a free tribute or an op monster if you chain with mirror wall/wod.

Wow, combo this with nutrient z or draining shield in a chain :)
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Neither of those combo with this card in any way. Nutrient Z requires Damage Calculation to occur, which won't happen if you use this. Draining Shield and Memory of an Adversary both refer to an attacking monster. That monster is no longer an "attacking monster" if its attack is negated or it leaves the field, so whichever resolves second will fail.

Not to mention Memory of an Adversary requires you to actually take the damage in order to banish the monster. Draining Shield would cause you to not take any damage.
