  • Special Summons any HERO monster with 1000 or less ATK from your deck to the field in defense mode, when this card is being destroyed by battle.

Cons

  • The Special Summoned monster has its effects negated as long as this card is equipped to it.

Tips

  • This monster can also bring out most of the Elemental HERO monsters that can be Fusion Materials for Elemental HERO Fusion monsters, so if you are playing a HERO fusion deck, you can special summon out the Fusion material that you lack in your hand, making it a lot faster.

When Phantom Magician is destroyed by battle during opponent’s Battle Phase, you can Special Summon Elemental HERO Woodsman or Elemental HERO Clayman in defense. Both these monsters have 2000 DEF which can withstand most level 4 monsters ATK. Additionally, if you Special Summoned Elemental HERO Woodsman during your opponent’s Battle Phase, during your Standby Phase, you can retrieve 1 Polymerization from your deck or graveyard, this is faster than you Normal Summoning Elemental HERO Woodsman during your Main Phase, and have to wait until next Standby Phase to get Polymerization from your deck or graveyard. If you Special Summon Destiny HERO - Fear Monger, and it is destroyed during the same Battle Phase by your opponent, on your next Standby Phase, you can Special Summon another Destiny HERO from your Graveyard, except Destiny HERO - Fearmonger.

"Woodsman" is worse because his an effect monster his good for recycling poly as effect fooder for discards but!! Clayman is better because his a normal monster normal monster's have access to tones of outside effects that effect monsters don't have access to

This card will not work with some Destiny Hero, like Double dude.

Double Dude cannot be special summoned.

Can be good for Woodsman for polymerization, defender & clayman to defend life points, and (maybe) avian for flame wingman or shine flare wingman soon

The obvious combos with this are
Woodsman for Poly on standby phase
Bubbleman in case this is the only card left on your field will allow you to draw 2 cards
Fear Monger and Malicious to use their effects later
Avian and Clayman to use as fusion mats
