Stats are high.
It gains the original attack of the monster that it's battling.

Cons

It needs work to summon this card. Dark Flare Knight needs to get destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard in order to Special Summon this card. And to get Dark Flare Knight, you need Dark Magician and Flame Swordsman to be fusion summoned, which is already very costly.
When this card battles, it is banished at the End Phase.

You can avoid Mirage Knight from getting banished by using this card. Use Ready for Intercepting to switch Mirage Knight to face-down defense position before the End Phase when Mirage Knight battles a monster.

there is no combo that could make mirage knight good. unless there's some card that specifically supports mirage knight it's never going to be worth summoning over other boss monsters. mirage knight is way too weak to monster removal and requires specific summoning conditions (the fact that Dark Flare Knight must be destroyed by battle only) makes it completely unviable.

Holy 🔥, what good combo? You literally require 3 cards to even drop out Dark Flare Knight (Fusion Tag into monster on field or fusion substitute, as trying to fusion Flame Swordsman is as stupid as it gets) and then you need to get its stupid 🔥 destroyed in battle (meaning any kind of removal will blow its stupid ass) just to summon this guy from deck and then you just e-con him and he banish

If they changed darkflares Knight eff to destroyed by battle or card eff then it would have been good

Dark Magician + Eye of Timaeus > Dark Flare Knight > Mirage Knight

Magician's Robe, Magician Navigation, Ancient Rules are all good card to pull a quick Dark Magician out for the combo

Or you could, you know, just Summon an actually useful monster like Dark Paladin or Amulet Dragon in the first place. I'd also argue that Metalmorph on Dark Magician is also better than going into Mirage Knight, and serves much the same purpose, except it doesn't 🔥 itself.

Not impossible to summon it but also not efficient.
You can prevent it from getting banished with Forbidden Chalice and Ready for Intercepting.
Its requirements are simply not worth the effort.
It's a cool monster though.

I feel like there's a way to use dark hex sealed fusion for this combo

For sll the effort it takes to summon this, I will never understand why they nerfed it from the anime effect. If it summoned Flame Swordsman + Dark Magician from the grave after banishing itself, it would still suck, but at least it would be kinda usable.

"Interdimensional Matter Transporter" didn't work with "Mirage knight" after the end phase, when he come back, he activate his effect and go away.
