Once per turn: You can make this card be unaffected by Spell/Trap effects until the end of this turn. During the End Phase, if this face-up card you controlled was destroyed by your opponent's card (by battle or card effect) and sent to your Graveyard this turn: You can banish 1 "Nordic Ascendant" Tuner monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card. When Summoned this way: You can draw 1 card.

  • Costly to summon.
  • Immunity effect is not permanent.
  • Can only be revived when destroyed and sent to the graveyard.

Tips

  • Odin will be vulnerable to Spell/Trap effects during your opponent’s turn and during your turn before you activate his effect. Your opponent can also chain effects.
  • The easiest combination to make Odin is 1 level-2 Tuner and 2 level-4 non-Tuners.

Nordic Ascendant Tuner

You will need one of these monsters when summoning Odin, luckily both are somewhat good at what they do. When Valkyrie is summoned while you have no other cards on the field and your opponent controls cards, you can banish 2 Nordic monsters from your hand and summon 2 tokens. Use Valkyrie with the tokens to make Odin.

Vanadis can manipulate her level while also pitching Nordic monsters to your graveyard. Send Valkyrie to the graveyard so that Odin will have more fuel for his revival effect.

When Odin’s effect is active, you can safely activate Needle Ceiling to destroy all other face-up monsters except Odin.

Aesir Support

Use these cards to support your Aesir and/or Nordic monsters. March Towards Ragnarok gives a similar effect to Odin’s and can be used during your opponent’s turn or during a critical situation.

I've managed to summon all 3 in 4 of my turns using only Nordic cards, but it is not reliable at all and you need to get really lucky when drawing cards

You're wrong because this card has the ability to return to the field by its own, it's immortal in many ways.

Once you 🔥 obelisk, there is no way to bring him back, not without a combo made by cards that are not searchable. OTOH, you need to build a whole deck around obelisk, this one has synergy with its own kind.

Immortal my butt, Odin is a bad boss monster who’s protection is basically nonexistent by how useless it is. The revival is slow and but is his only redeeming quality - making him a protection less body on your field for their turn. On top of that the entire archetype around him also sucks, labeled amongst the worst of all time. Lol

Odin is superior to Obelisk in every single way and can revive himself over and over. Obelisk has nothing on this card.

Odin however, is restricted to a single archetype. Obelisk is more "splashable" in that any deck that can easily bring out three monsters on the field, can also easily bring out Obelisk.

this card is powerful, but its summoning requirements are too specific and the fact that during your opponents turn after you summon it you will have a very low amount of cards on your field, so your opponent can econ take for game. With march towards ragnarok there's a little protection however.

Hans and iron knight can eadily make up the non tuners. The issue will be to summon valkyrie with ways other than valhalla/celestial transformation

Yeah, basically, there's a reason why Nordic/Aesir is treated as a huge joke by Yugioh community during 5Ds era.

Their cards either have too much restriction, too awkward in terms of level, or overnerfed compared to the anime. Almost as if they're an archetype from GX.
