How would this play with brainwashing? If someone removed it would this counter the damage?

Was wondering if you can use this against the toonworld card that way when ever a toon monster attacks you, you just gain LP's

The damage itself is battle damage, their effects only modify the parameters of battle (under the right conditions almost every monster can attack directly, after all). In the wider game the only monster who inflicts effect damage directly via battle is the otherwise obscure Gravekeeper's Vassal (who plays a larger part in the tasks of this game).
