This card was destroyed because I didn't have the cost even though it had counters on Power of Guardians! Even more, bizarrely it didn't even activate the effect of "Verdant Sanctuary", even though it clearly says destroyed. What is this?
It's easy to pay the cost to keep this card on the field even despite all that, but it sucks that I can't let it get destroyed to search an insect I need for the duel in question (damn those decks not playing ONE single light or dark monster) when I specifically want to search another insect.
Wait. Htf is it not counted as destroyed by card effect? This card’s self destruct is literally a card effect. It’s a card and the reason it’s destroyed is because of its effect.
Koaki' Meiru is a very strange archetype, with the right hand it wipes out the field. But somehow it seems vulnerable to bricking, so I guess that's why it's been rated as C+
This card is irrelevant to Koa'ki Meiru due to its typing.
(To be fair, most of the good Koa'ki Meiru are Beast-Warrior and Rock anyway, so the type reveals aren't a huge issue. It just makes things like Beetle or Gravirose useless to the deck.)

Koa'ki Meiru and Insect decks are legitimate threats against Anki and Vampire decks with this card, and this card is a mere N rarity.
Insect decks, sure. But this thing is useless in Koa'ki Meiru since it's the only Insect. (Yes, you could use Diamond Core or send Iron Core to keep it, but it's the kind of card you need up for more than a turn, so that isn't feasible.)
