Skills are the main sell point of this game but the way they are implementing it is stupid. There is no need for balancing this feature but making it as ceative as possible. When everything is OP the game will balance itself. Konami is trying too hard to control what we play using the skill that they loss most of the potential to make this a great game for everyone of their player.

Skills became their best marketing strategy, that's all they are now.

Wanna sell whatever trash cards you just released? Give them an op skill

You wanna sell cars never seen in the anime but they are garbage? Don't hit destiny draw ever again so it carries those garbage decks

Yeah, Duel Links now has a stronger "anime/manga-like" focus, using Skills to allow for plays like in the anime or manga.

Which kinda makes me wish they do something to Duel Standby to make it usable without Amano abusing it again. Heck, maybe just completely change the skill to a Fairy support skill or something.

They should change the skill back to its original effect. Many good skills give you a +1 advantage anyway without any drawbacks. This is a generic skill but it's a +/-0 in total because your opponent also gets a +1.

Well unlike their strategy of releasing a new archetype scattered among a SD and a mainbox with a custom skill pasted on it, buffing duel standby wouldn't net a profit so we can say goodbye to that ever happening

I mean, iwano itself is intended as spirit monster in the first place, which mean he shall return to hand unless you play spirit deck in general.

Dont blame konami just because they took ur toy 4 eternity. They just make it as it intended in the first place ( remember cyber style?)

Duel Standby was abused with Amano to stop it from returning to hand, thus locking the opponent from activating monster effect for the rest of the Duel.

Which is not how Amano is intended to be used.

At this point, this skill should get rid of the benefit for the opponent, so only you get one more card. And the not being able to summon should just apply to effect monsters if anything? Not just ban summoning.

They specifically said that this skill granted too advantage to people using non effect monsters on first turn. Anyway I agree with you that before the nerf this skill was still usable, right now has lost all its appeal

well there are a lots of skills just put there to make number, like LP Boost Ω or the majority of Tristan's skills which noone uses because they can't be possibly good in any deck. The most useless character in this sense is probably Scud

both have 1 more card on starting hand but you give up when u enter main phase
ok.

With the nerf this skill is still useful... for your opponent which has 1 more card and the possibility to do everything. And if you go second and have this skill it is the end. I don't see any use except for decks which use set cards on first turn like Sylvans

You can still use your set cards and hand traps. But this skill has become very bad
