Pros

  • Banishing your monster will protect it from getting destroyed, or targeted by your opponent.
  • Special summoning monsters will enable certain effects that trigger when monsters are special summoned.
  • Special summoning the monster will allow you to summon them in either attack or defense position instead of previous position.

Cons

  • Your monster can only be special summoned when the card is sent to the graveyard, through its effect activation, or if it's destroyed and sent to the graveyard.
  • This card can be cancelled if it's destroyed before banishing your monster. Like if your opponent (or you) chains their Twister to this card's activation.

Lab Builder deck

This card is a popular choice to add into Lab builder farming decks, as your opponent will not attack you directly with monsters that have 3000 or lower attack when you remove Labyrinth Wall with this card. Allowing you to stall as much as you want.

I faced someone in duel who used this trap along with Enemy controller to perma-steal my lev 7 monster.

- used e-con, sac'd their monster, pulled mine to their side.
- then triggered dim-gate, sent the monster away
- then used a storm to destroy the dim-gate, once they got the monster back from banishment, it was theirs permanent.

This is actually wrong as it's not how it's stated in the rule. E-con description says "take control until the End Phase", which means no matter where the card travelled, its control should return to its original owner after the EP, anytime it returns and is controlled

i use my Crimson Ninja to get the monster back to my side... to get the ninja on the field i can use the ninjutsu to sacrefice and spawn as many ninjas as possible... Dice Typhoon works too but its possible to deal yourself 1000 damage BUT with luck you destroy the Dimension Gate + another enemie trap/spell card...

I was looking forward to getting three copies of this card to run a monster thief deck w jowls, but unfortunately after extensive testing in Legend it is almost completely a dead draw if your opponent runs Fire Kings + Phoenix. Also, like 50% of decks in Legend are Phoenix.

Tech in 1 or 2 autonomous action units to tilt Phoenix players lmao. I've been doing that in Legends 1 and they usually surrender immediately after I revive their own Phoenix

I have three of these, any tips on building a deck around these? Using enemy controller to steal your opponents monsters and then using this card to baninsh it. Then using storm to destroy it and special summon the monster to your side permanently? Please help!

The Atmosphere can work well with it, use this to get rid of a monster equipped to the Atmosphere, so you can equip another that your opponent controls

I testing Jowls of Demise and illusion Summoner with DG.. Added 2 Storm and Anteatereatingant to destroy DG

Can anybody explain why my BEUD is not comeback after banish with this card?
Note: i summon BEUD with summoner of illusion effect. And aftet that i use DG to bannish BEUD hope it will gate back. But its not after i destroy face up DG with storm or when my opponent monster declare a direct attack next turn. What exactly happening here? Why DG doesn't work instead of interdimentional transporter?

They had an article on it several years back.
The person on their said the World Champion should have been disqualified!

Improperly summoned BEUD can be maintained by using Dimension Hole. In particular, use Dimension Hole on Illusion BEUD, it will stay with you from next Standby.

Which has proven all what you said is nonsense. Yes boom a 4500 ATK monster created from 1 tribute 1 effect monster and 1 normall spell.

Also there is no such thing as "improperly", just "stated in the rule" and not. This is a game about utilizing the rules of the cards, you can say most powerful decks are created using crazy ideas utilizing each card's rules. If the game creators want to discourage anything, they should explicitly say it somewhere. Otherwise they are disabling an unprohibited move, and that's what called a bug

Am i missing something? i have a faced up dimension gate(banished dunames in the previous turn), now in my opponent's turn he attacks my sonic bird with a vanilla harpie and then uses Econ to change my bird to defense position, i respond using OTC to 🔥 his other monster and i lose, the vanilla harpie attacks directly and dimension gate never procs, no prompts, nothing.

Dimension gate only activates on declaration, because they had already declared it missed the timing.

econ take, attack, then chain this card to banish the monster and then you can bring the monster back and its yours forever. strong synergy with the arguably the most versatile quick play card ingame.

Not sure how this is only 5.0 out of 10 when it was one of the most played traps at Worlds. It's stupidly good with Storm and ECon.
