Skill Details

Your starting hand will reflect the card balance of your deck. This Skill will not activate unless you have at least 6 of each type of card (Monster, Spell, and Trap) in your Deck. You cannot Special Summon or activate monster effects until the end of the Main Phase of your first turn.

I think I understand how the updated Balance skill works now. You are given a percentage of the type of cards that will go in your starting hand. So let's say you have a 20 card deck with 15 monsters and 5 spells. That means you have a 75% chance of obtaining a monster card and a 25% chance of obtaining a spell card. Unlike the old balance skill, where this setup gives you 100% chance of having 3 monster cards and 100% chance of having 1 spell card, this change means you have more randomness and your deck will no longer be as consistent as it used to.
That kinda sucks tbh. Haha

This is basic math. If your deck was set up that way, those would be the chances of getting those cards..... using balance or not.

Then this skill would be meaningless. Even without this skill, your chance of drawing a spell card is 25% already, when 1/4 of your deck are spell cards.

Hi guys, if i have monster/spell/trap in this ratio 14/3/7, with skill balance, but i still got 1st draw all monster.
Does this means my opponent is cheating or the skill does not work properly.

A deck with 12 monster, 6 traps and 6 spells doesn't give you a starting hand with 2 monsters, 1 trap and 1 spell each time. This skill isn't that good, tbh.

Why 12 monsters? You only need 8 monsters for Balance to activate.....

Yeah, I tried it with Lightsworns where you don't want to deck out. And I thought a 2:1:1 ratio would obviously give you that many cards for your starting hand. But it doesn't.

Actually, from my personal experience with this skill, if running 12M,6S,6T.

If you get 1st turn it is guaranteed to get 2:1:1.
But if you get 2nd turn, you still might get 2:1:1 but sometimes you could get something like 3:1:0, but in such case, during your draw you are guaranteed to draw a trap.

Strange, in the "Description (Since 2018 Jun 26)" it mentions that you must have at least 6 of each type of cards for this skill to activate.

In the "Overview" it says : 10 monsters + 10 spell/traps.

I mean, 10 spell/traps equals to having less than 6 spell or traps right ?

Humm, actually I just tested that a few minutes ago.

I made a 30 cards deck with 4 spells, 6 traps, and 20 monsters.
My skill didn't activate and I didn't get my awesome character line.

The second time I made a 30 cards deck with 6 spells, 6 traps, and 18 monsters.
This time my skill activated and I get my awesome character line.

So I guess 10 spell/trap isn't enough

Especially for pve farm decks this is a very nice skill to have. Decks like Cerberus or Maha Vailo Equip can be on hand in the first round so you get the extra damage for the extra rewards. ;)

Never play 21 cards.
Play 20 or you won't get a trap in your starting hand.

You need at least 6 monsters + at least 6 spells + at least 6 traps in your Deck. All of them.

Stupid question, but what would the ratio be like for a 30 card deck? 10 Monsters, 10 Magic and 10 Traps cards?

1 monster, 1 trap and 1 spell guaranteed. The 4th card will be random.

for those that want to do "grass is greener" i find this skill works when the ratio is 16/6/6 instead of 18/6/6, its unfortunate but gotta do what u can.

if you don't like Sealed tombs, Balance is probably the best way to play koaki's.

How does this skill work? Does it only guarantee 1 of each card type if you have at least 6 of each in your deck? I have 8 monsters, 6 traps and 6 spells but more often than not I get 2 traps in my opening hand, shouldn't it be 2 monsters?

Look. This is BALANCE. I have 6 Traps 6 Spells and 8 Monsters. Look what have they done. Especially I always have a lot of lot of TreachTrap when battling an anti-trap deck (all the time), no spells! This is rigged.

I suggest checking that the skill is activating. After testing again to see any changes it works like this: 8 monster 6 spell 6 trap creates 1 of each with the 4th randomised.

How many S/T do you need to have for a 30card deck for this skill to work? Doesn´t a 24/6/6 split give you one of each?
