Is this normal it said up to 3 monster cards.. then,is it valid to discard only 1 or 2 monster cards while having 3 or more monster cards in your hand? or you should discard 3 monster cards?

You can discard any amount up to 3. This would be more useful with darklord Marie and Bakura (or yugi's yami deck) now that he's out
