Monster Zone Lock

Ojama Knight

You can possibly lock your opponent's monster zone if he/she has no tribute monsters. Use Floodgate Trap Hole when your opponent Summons a Monster. Then disable the 2 remaining zones by using Ojama Knight's effect. You can then wait to get the cards that you needed or burn your opponent.

The text "monster(s)" on Floodgate Trap Hole means that it can affect multiple cards. See these screenshots below for example.

The opponent used The Flute of Summoning Dragon to Special Summon 2 Blue-Eyes White Dragon on the field. Then the Floodgate Trap Hole prompt pops up.

Floodgate Trap Hole is Activated.

Both of the Blue-Eyes White Dragon has been switched to face-down defense position.

So I have a question, I was playing a duel and I destroyed silent magician which summoned silent magician level 8 and I couldn't activate my floodgate does anyone know why?

It has to do with it's "when your opponent summon" timing requirement.

silent magician's eff when destroyed triggers during the damage step, which is why you couldn't use floodgate.

Once Jinzo hits the field, no Trap cards can be activated.

You need a Trap card that negates the summon, not a Trap card that response to a successful summon.

As the other anon said, those "losers" are the ones who finance the game and make F2P players still able to play the game for free. Some of the "whales" are actually good players too.

Implying Konami doesn't have enough money to keep this game going for quite a while as F2P with all the money they've wrung out of people over the years. They aren't EA bad by any means, but they sure are striving to be if the newest ""Metal Gear"" game is anything to go by.

Anything that Rose Lover special summons on the field on the SAME turn the effect resolved will be immune to trap effects. Most likely, your FGT was used on a monster with the above immunity, hence it seems to not work on a specific Sylvan monster.

Why does floodgate not work on monsters summoned by amazones onslaught?

It should work as long as Onslaught's effect wasn't chained to something else. If it was, the last thing to happen wasn't a Summon, so you wouldn't be able to use Floodgate Trap Hole.

SSA can avoid this provided that you activate the trap card before summoning a monster.

You can chain Floodgate's activation with SSA.

How to counter floodgate trap hole?

since floodgate trap hole isn't a counter trap you can chain cards to its activation for example banishing your citadel whale with ssa or tagging out your HERO monster with mask change also hypothetically floodgate trap hole can miss timing but I can't think of a relevant scenario for this to happen

Make a deck broken, then limit/ban the cards later on when they need to sell a newer pack.

You could've picked a better example than Union Scramble seeing as being face-down doesn't prevent you banishing the VWXYZ pieces for a Fusion. ;p

That being said, there's very few cards that Summon multiple monsters at once here anyway. Gladiator Beast Nerokius and Ties of the Brethren are really the only commonish ones I can think of.

Gladiator Beasts don't lose a lot of power due to this card! They can simply be shuffled in to the deck to fusion summon a nice monster!
