Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would destroy a card(s) on the field: You can negate the effect, and if you do, destroy it. Once per turn, when an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can target the attacking monster; banish this card, and if you do, negate that attack. During the next End Phase: Special Summon this card banished by this effect.

What was the card that opponent use?

This card is similar to its base form Stardust in that if the effect does not guarantee destruction, then this card cannot respond to it.

Also, the anti destruction effect cannot be activated in Damage Step.

Yea, i also believe it's more likely due to the game mechanic.
-Desperado real effect is throwing coin, which mean stardust can't negate it.
-Attacking man eater bug face down made stardust unable to megate it since it was occurred during the damage step.

Why would it? It's not that broken as these
"pro" DL players make it out to be. If you have anything that doesn't involve destruction of card(s) then you can prevent them from summoning this beauty. My deck has Tuning Gum (To prevent any synchros being affected by effects from your opponent's cards) and Hey Trunade but of course if I dont have either at the start then my SSD will be vulnerable.

I mean what grows in the graveyard got nerfed once, shooting star road skill basically the better version of it

Tips : You dont need xyz synchro fusion or ritual
Tips : Just some weak monster 5-7
Tips : More Traps

Even Opponent Surrender although i never attacking neither destroy his card

I just had to say this.

I just did a dumb thing, in a Ranked Duel just now...

My opponent was a Mai with a Harpie deck. I brought out Shooting Star Dragon. She only had 1 face down and I activated his effect to get 3 simultaneous attacks.

Then I played Power of the Guardians like a dum-dum.

Feel free to roast me in the comments.

If she had only a facedown monster it is ok. If she had only a face down spell/trap is still ok. If she had harpie slash and you forgot to mention it in your comment you are dum-dum-dum

I realized my dum-dum mistake right after I activated PotG.

But in my defense, I only thought it it was her Spells that trigger her effect.

Boy was I wrong.

Banish?
Flip it Face down?
Send to GY without destroying via card effect?
Return it to extra deck?

A single disruption on junk synchron usually mean this card won't even be summoned either.

I know it looks cool but let's face reality. It just another rogue at the end of the day. Never compare it with onomat or resonator

You have already lost before you can draw the card that can disrupt it. It will always come out on turn 2 without fail.

You already lost before you can "draw" card that can disrupt it

If it was 2nd turn just use a full combo.
Shooting star CAN be targeted by card effect and that's all you need to know to deal with it
