Pros

Can be searched from your deck by Soul Rope, Magician's Circle, Blue Dragon Summoner and Legion the Fiend Jester.
The attack is pretty high. It can go up to 1900 along with the Field Spell Yami.

Cons

Defense is pretty low which makes it susceptible to attacks when switched to defense position.

Tips

Search and summon

You can search Neo the Magic Swordsman from your deck by sending Blue Dragon Summoner or Legion the Fiend Jester from the field to the Graverd. Let your opponent destroy them or you can use them for tributes.

You can use Soul Rope when your monster in the field is destroyed by a card effect, by paying 1000 Life Points you can special summon Neo the Magic Swordsman from your deck.
You can also Special Summon Neo the Magic Swordsman from your deck by using Magician's Circle. When either you or your opponent declares an attack with a Spellcaster-Type monster, both of you can Special Summon a Spellcaster-Type monster with 2000 or less attack from your decks.
