Evaluation

RatingA-

Pros

  • Greatly increases the ATK for the “Crystal Beast” monster that was equipped.
  • Can place 1 “Crystal Beast” monster from your Deck to your Spell/Trap zone as Continuous Spell Card, when this equip card was sent from the Field to the Graveyard.

Cons

  • Equip Spell card may potentially clog your backrow.

Tips

  • This card provides a huge advantage for you to search out the pieces you lack, in order to Special Summon Rainbow Dragon.
  • You can also choose to place the “Crystal Beast” monsters in your Spell/Trap zone, use Storm to remove them and destroy your opponent’s Spell/Trap cards, since you can still Special Summon Rainbow Dragon with “Crystal Beasts” in your Graveyard.

Applicable Monsters

These are the “Crystal Beast” monsters that can be equipped with Crystal Release.

Synergy

You can use Storm to actively destroy Crystal Release and send it to your Graveyard, and search for 1 “Crystal Beast” monster to be placed from your Deck to your Spell/Trap zone, then repeat the same process by using Swords of Dawn to equip Crystal Release from your Graveyard to your Field, and destroy it during your End Phase, so you can get another “Crystal Beast” monster from your Deck to your Spell/Trap zone.

If I tribute a monster equipped with Crystal Release, or sometimes when it gets destroyed by an opponent's card effect, Crystal Release's effect of putting a CB in my backrow doesn't happen. I get a message that says "missed the timing". But all the card says is when the card is moved from the field to the graveyard, so it should still happen right?

That's not how it works in Yugioh, though.

Perhaps for the sake of balance, "When" and "If" works differently in Yugioh, even though they basically means the same thing.

When = the effect must be the last thing to happen, otherwise it misses the timing

If = the effect does not have to be the last to happen

So for example, if you Tributed a monster equipped with Crystal Release to Tribute Summon a Level 5/6 monster, the last thing to happen is the Level 5/6 monster being Tribute Summoned, as a result, Crystal Release misses the timing.

Thank you. I feel like the wording could be a little more clear for a casual like me, but I learned something today.

This card is increadibly overpowered compared to other equip spells and should be removed from the game.

lolno, you're just a bad player

It's restricted to CB only, who really needs the power boost anyway. This card is far from being broken.

Sure it might be hard to overcome a Pegasus/Tiger equipped with this card, but it's only hard if you're thinking about battle only. Good players also think about effect - you can use Super Rush Headlong to destroy the CB, or take control of the CB using E-Con and Tribute it for something else.

Outside of mirror force and it's other counterparts, this card is also one of the best traps...
They should release this card but make it so that you can only activate it once per week per acco...
Noah is in the game. But you have to unlock Atticus (GX) first before you can unlock him.
