Should have been:

If this card battles a Synchro Monster, return that Synchro monster to its owner's Extra Deck at the start of the Damage Step (without damage calculation), then return this card to its owner's hand.

But then again, this isn't even the weirdest text choice Konami ever used.

The PSCT for Dark World monsters still ranks at #1 for that.
