Flower Cardian: deck recipe [May 2020]

Duel Links Flower Cardian deck, Flower Cardian in the current meta, how to use.
update 28/05/2020

Overview

Most Flower Cardian monsters have the effect of Special Summoning themselves by tributing a Cardian monster you control. You will then get to draw a card and, if it is a Cardian monster, trigger the Special Summoned monster's second effect. For this reason Cardian decks must be almost completely composed of Cardian monsters.

Cardians are very bricky, and their high-leveled monsters have very low stats. But in exchange for raw power they offer powerful effects and support that would otherwise be broken in other archetypes. Additionally their effects do not have a "once per turn" restriction, so you are free to summon as much as you can.

Grit will be used to prevent you from dying due to a bricky starting hand because Cardians have no in-archetype way of fetching Flower Cardian Pine.

How to Use

Sphere Kuriboh

Sphere Kuriboh
Sphere Kuriboh
DARK Fiend ★1
ATK 300 / DEF 200
The Ultimate Rising [UR]
When an opponent's monster declares an attack: You can send this card from your hand to the Graveyard; change the attacking monster to Defense Position. When you Ritual Summon a monster, you can banish this card from your Graveyard as 1 of the monsters required for the Ritual Summon.

Flower Cardian Pine

Flower Cardian Pine
Flower Cardian Pine
DARK Warrior ★1
ATK 100 / DEF 100
Valhalla Calling [R]
If this card is Normal Summoned: Draw 1 card, show it, then send it to the Graveyard unless it is a "Flower Cardian" monster. You can only use this effect of "Flower Cardian Pine" once per turn. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, or if this card in your possession is destroyed by an opponent's card effect and sent to your Graveyard: You can draw 1 card.

The most important card in this deck and the first monster you always play. Not getting Flower Cardian Pine in your starting hand, or having it stolen by your opponent, is an immediate lose condition if it wasn't for Grit.

Upon Normal Summon Flower Cardian Pine lets you draw a card. This is best comboed by Flower Stacking to put the Flower Cardian monster you want to summon on top of your deck before you Normal Summon Flower Cardian Pine.

Field Control

Flower Cardian Clover with Boar
Flower Cardian Clover with Boar
DARK Warrior ★7
ATK 1000 / DEF 1000
Valhalla Calling [R]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Flower Cardian" monster, except "Flower Cardian Clover with Boar". If this card is Special Summoned: Draw 1 card, and if you do, show it, then, if it is a "Flower Cardian" monster, you can destroy 1 monster your opponent controls. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard.

Flower Cardian Clover with Boar and Flower Cardian Maple with Deer can respectively destroy your opponent's monsters and Spell/Trap cards on top of the standard Cardian draw effect. Both effects combined make these monsters great for gaining advantage and controlling the field.

Flower Cardian Maple with Deer
Flower Cardian Maple with Deer
DARK Warrior ★10
ATK 1000 / DEF 1000
Valhalla Calling [R]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Flower Cardian" monster, except "Flower Cardian Maple with Deer". If this card is Special Summoned: Draw 1 card, and if you do, show it, then, if it is a "Flower Cardian" monster, you can destroy 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard.

If you control multiple copies, you can alternately tribute and Special Summon between both monsters to clear your opponent's board.

Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly

Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly
Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly
DARK Warrior ★6
ATK 1000 / DEF
Valhalla Calling [N]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 "Flower Cardian" monster, except "Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly". If this card is Special Summoned: Draw 1 card, and if you do, show it, then, if it is a "Flower Cardian" monster, look at the top 3 cards of your opponent's Deck, then place them all on the top or bottom of the Deck in any order. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard. When this card is used as Synchro Material, you can treat it and all other Synchro Materials (that have a Level) as Level 2 monsters.

Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly makes synchro summoning work in a deck with almost all high-leveled monsters, this is because of its effect to treat all Synchro materials as level-2. This level adjustment easily gives you access to level-4 and level-6 Synchro monsters.

You can choose to not activate Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly's level adjustment and simply pair it with Flower Cardian Pine or Flower Cardian Pine with Crane to make a level-7 Synchro monster.

Aside from being a great Synchro enabler, Flower Cardian Peony with Butterfly is able to change the arrangement of the top cards of your opponent's deck to put key cards at the bottom.

Flower Cardian Zebra Grass

Flower Cardian Zebra Grass
Flower Cardian Zebra Grass
DARK Warrior ★8
ATK 100 / DEF 100
Valhalla Calling [N]
While you control a Level 7 or lower "Flower Cardian" monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, also you cannot Normal or Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except "Flower Cardian" monsters. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can reveal any number of "Flower Cardian" monsters in your hand, shuffle them into the Deck, then draw the same number of cards.

Flower Cardian Zebra Grass lets you extend your field because he is a no cost Special Summon as long as you control a level-7 or lower Cardian monster. Its effect is not as powerful as the other Cardian monsters but can help you get a better hand. Use him as tribute for other Cardian monsters or as Synchro material.

Flower Cardian Zebra Grass with Moon
Flower Cardian Zebra Grass with Moon
DARK Warrior ★8
ATK 2000 / DEF 2000
Valhalla Calling [N]
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must first be Special Summoned (from your hand) by Tributing 1 Level 8 "Flower Cardian" monster, except "Flower Cardian Zebra Grass with Moon". If this card is Special Summoned: Draw 1 card, and if you do, show it, then you can Special Summon it if it is a "Flower Cardian" monster. Otherwise, send it to the Graveyard. Once per turn, if this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can draw 1 card.

Flower Cardian Zebra Grass with Moon interacts with Flower Cardian Zebra Grass similar to how Flower Cardian Pine with Crane interacts with Flower Cardian Pine, because of Flower Cardian Zebra Grass with Moon's summoning condition it can only be summoned by using Flower Cardian Zebra Grass as tribute. It then acts similarly to Flower Cardian Pine with Crane with the difference of drawing a card after destroying an opponent's monster.

Reincarnation & Flower Stacking

Recardination
Recardination
Normal Spell
Valhalla Calling [R]
Target 1 "Flower Cardian" monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand, then you can Special Summon 1 "Flower Cardian" monster from your hand, ignoring its Summoning conditions. If this card is sent to the Graveyard by a "Flower Cardian" monster's effect: You can excavate the top 5 cards of your Deck, and if you do, you can add 1 excavated Spell/Trap Card to your hand. Place the remaining cards on top of your Deck in any order.
Flower Stacking
Flower Stacking
Normal Spell
Valhalla Calling [N]
Choose 3 "Flower Cardian" monsters from your Deck and place them on top of the Deck in any order. During your Main Phase, except the turn this card was sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Flower Cardian" monster in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Hanazumi" once per turn.

I got OTK from player using this with Grit, and it took him forever is this Spellbook v.2.0?!!
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Yes, this deck is very similar to Sylvan, just slower and more bricky.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
This deck is not bricky at all, it can search for Pine card
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Eh it is bricky, there's only 6 opening cards with this deck, and if you don't have level 1 first turn opponent can otk you instead
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Bamboo OTK deck used only 3 Woodland Sprite cards and that didn’t stop many people from playing it with high winrate until it was limited.

I don’t remember the exact chance, but it’s definitely higher than 50% with 6 cards in 20 card deck
F2P
Quite a good deck, damn

1-)This deck is too annoying and slow.I lose 2 games with this deck cause' time limit:-(
2-)You should be luckyly since turn 4 to draw "Pine" otherwise you lose immediately.
3-) Deck is no f2p for me. I spent 5k gems. I had spent 5k Koaki's all deck(with Dream SR tickets)

f2p=u don't have to spend any $$. It's f2p. Learn the differences.

1) I never have time limit issue playing this deck. Fast decision making is whay you need, you should train yourself using this deck against LD level 10 multiple times until you master the combo
2) Flower Stacking + Grit skill is what you need to consistently open up with Pine
3) As long as you don't spend money, all your decks are F2P

| I play Flower Cardian in KC Cup, run very well so far

I mean yeah, I hit DLv Max using flower Cardians lol

What the f?
My monsters were destroyed with Stardust dragon on my side of the field
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
This deck completely ignores Stardust dragon and E-controller
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
That's because the destruction effect isn't guaranteed just like snipe hunter so stardust can't negate it
Anonymous
Man dude I hope they dont nerf this deck I like using it

Carlos Yugo
Why add Flower Cardians, when their wielder from Arc-v isn't available yet?!
<< Anonymous(Carlos Yugo)
Anonymous Reply
Because Arc-V has Pendulum summoning. We don't have it yet.
Anonymous
Slower than Spellbook, but only last for one turn since this is OTK deck
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Legend player can play this deck quickly, especially Grit version since they know exactly what cards they would search using Flower Stacking. But obviously the opponent would still call it slow
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
Clover with Boar would always be Flower Stacking's main priority since it destroys opponent's monster and its level (7) allows you to special summon Zebra Grass

Cards used for a card game in a card game with a solitaire playstyle. Coincidence?

wtf is this deck... takes an eternity to play against and they just wipe my entire board how is this fair.
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
It could have been worse; they could banish cards instead of destroying
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
whats the difference... it all happens in one turn so it doesnt matter, you still lose
Anonymous
Why can't you react to the destroying effects of these monsters? It is like a quick effect
<< Anonymous
Anonymous Reply
The destruction happens when this card's effect resolves. At that moment, your opponent draw 1 card, and the drawing result decides if the destruction would happen or not. It's not 100%, so you can not response to that effect.

*sarcasm* cant wait for exodia version.
