Blame Konami's TCG branch. They could have used "Overlord" or "Ruler", which does not specify a gender, but they choose "King" instead, and screw themselves when a female D/D/D like this one shows up, and has no choice but to call her a King.

Honestly, this is exactly one of the reasons why the TCG branch is incompetent. So many terrible translation choices.

They're getting better now that the clown, no, the entire circus that is Kevin Tewart apparently no longer works there, though. Had he exited much sooner, we won't have that dumb Mekk-Knight Avram text and those bland Number monster names, to name a few of his works.

Why does Shadow Game not apply as "any effect that inflicts damage"?

To put it simply, skill is not effect, just like enemy cocytus could get destroyed by your skill during pvp speed duel event before

Skill does not directly triggers a card effect.

The effect based of regular rules and since skill doesn't exist in regular duel it can't by triggered by skill

One of the more useful, if not the most, D/D/D Fusion, since she basically nullifies the Contract cards' drawback.
