Dont ever ever ever try to compare old cards with newer cards. For your knowledge back in the EARLY days of yugioh, during 2002 this card and summoned skull were the only tribute monsters players used. They were the tribute monster staples. Then Jinzo came.

Dark effigy only works as 2 tributes for the tribute summon of a normal monster. AKA a non-effect monster. Barrel Dragon has an effect which is why it doesn't work.

You must have simply remembered it wrong. because Dark Effigy definitely does not work with this card on its own.

However, you CAN tribute both Dark Effigy and another monster to summon this card.

I converted the only copy of barrel dragon for UR stone, now on stage 48, it requires barrel dragon to complete :s i farmed too hard but no barrel dragon yet :(

Why would you do that? Barrel Dragon is a great card. It's not like it's a harpie lady sister or Legendary fisherman that barely have any uses. This card had both Machine synergy and Dark synergy and has a great effect. 1 UR jewel is not worth getting rid of this card for.

Because when it destroys a monster with its effect, it technically never flipped over, meaning it's effect can't be activated

yes you can attack after using the skill.just remember to use the skill before battle phase because you cant use it at battle face.
