One of the few reasons Assault Mode Activate is worth using. Assault Mode Activate will help Psi Reflector become a Synchro enabler and therefore more reliably summon the Synchro monster’s /Assault Mode counterpart.
-Summon reflector
-Use it's effect to search assault beast
-Search assault mode active with discarding beast
-Use reflector 2nd effect to reveal assault mode active, and SS beast from GY. Suit it's level for synchro summon
-Synchro summon the said monster
-Set assault mode active, and active it on the next turn
Btw you need the assault mode monster in your deck. Won't work in hand.

Is there an alternative card to use to summon an Assault Mode monster if it's been drawn into your hand?
Effects can Tribute. (Basically every Ritual Spell in existence does this, for example, as do cards like Ectoplasmer and Summoner of Illusions) But in this case, yes, Assault Mode Activate's Tribute is a cost. Ignoring Ritual Spells, Tributing as a cost is significantly more common than Tributing for an effect, but it's not rare enough to ignore entirely.
An Assault monster is an effect monster that has '/Assault Mode' in it's name.
They are upgraded forms of Synchro monsters that are summoned by cards like this one.
For example, if you have 'Stardust Dragon' on your field, you can use this card to tribute 'Stardust Dragon' and summon 'Stardust Dragon /Assault Mode' from your deck.
