Skill Details

Change 1 of the following monsters you control to the monster listed. If you are changing an Effect Monster, send 1 "Kuriboh" monster from your hand to your Graveyard.

This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.
Monster that includes "Gaia The Fierce Knight" in its original card name: Black Luster Soldier
- Monster whose original name contains "Black Luster Soldier": Black Luster Soldier - Super Soldier

Although they made the skill slightly better, they totally forgot to also add the summoning animation of black luster soldier to yugi muto. I hope Konami will finally add him too the summoning video or make this skill available to yami yugi.

They usually make all event-exclusive skills available through lifetime missions after a few months. If it isn't there, it means that it's currently not available and you have to wait.

Compare this rubbish skill to Alternative Evolution. NO -1 or kuriboh nonsense, just turns BWED to Alternative. This skill could have some use if it turned useless gaias into supersoldier, but no, they turn into vanilla BLS.

Yeap, exactly. Imo, this skill would have been WAY better if it was used as you said, by instant turning a gaia or black luster soldier monster to a super soldier (not the vanilla one in any case) and without the need of kuriboh. Then it could be ok, especially in gaia decks.

I think if any Gaia or BLS can turn into Super Soldier, then no one will use BLS to begin with.

But I agree that 1 cost is not necessary.
And also, BLS can remain turn to Super Soldier whilst Any Gaia will turn into A Stronger Gaia instead such as Soldier Gaia or something.

Well, Gaia turns to Soldier Gaia still very much lackluster anyway, to compare to BEWD turn to Alternative.

The least the could do is give us atleast 1 copy of the card, the can give us Egyptian gods, and a spammy new blue eyes deck full of skills...
But they wanna skimp on the black luster archetype..

Possibly a Gaia support deck coming soon, with some BLS support included.

Although I'd also love a Stardust Dragon/Assault Mode structure, it'd save me from wasting one of my UR Dream Ticket so I can save it for a Core card, even though I don't care about Ranked.

I’ve been waiting on this card for months, and the fact they put all these requirements behind it is ridiculous..
The least the could do is take the kuriboh requirement..
Or better yet..
JUST GIVE US THE CARD BRO

Nah... I personaly prefer the old classic black luster soldier since it has one of the best summoning videos. I dont want to replace him with this card. Or at least I dont want to replace all of them. I prefer to keep this one as a skill (but a bit better) or release him just 1 as a level up reward for yugi muto.

Tried to make use of the skill. Just an ultra garbage skill:
You can't run it in a chibi knight bls ritual deck since you prefer to have the black luster soldier banishing+ double attack effect and the superior master of rights skill instead of a mediocre burn dmg. Also running kuriboh monsters makes the deck even more random.

The best way I found was to use it in a gaia deck with super soldier shield and path to chaos field relinkuriboh and spere kutibon. However the results were also bad.
Running a kuriboh monster was ok since sphere kuriboh and relinkuriboh are good to use for ritual with gaia monsters. But the fact the you have to discard them is an instant -1 just to get a 3000 vanilla or a mediocre burn effect if you used a bls. The skill would at least be ok if you just had to reveal a kuriboh monster instead of discarding it. Good luck making use of this skill.

I did also try it (only the first effect). You basically waste your skill and go -1 to get a 3k vanilla beater that can be normal summoned without tributes. There are many better options to get a vanilla beater with 3k.

Exactly, I tried to find a reason to justify that waste by using some black luster support cards like super soldier shield and rebirth trap cards but turned out to be a ultra bricky deck.
Just a funky skill that wont see competitive play.

He's correct.

The second effect should say Black Luster Soldier, not Gaia again.

As the second effect turns BLS into BLS - Super Soldier.

I see, then it's a pretty lame skill then.
I thought any Gaia can turn to BLS or BLSSS (selectable) which people would obviously pick BLSSS every single time.

Reference is fine. The problem is the skill is weak. It should be twice per duel and turn any gaia and any BLS into super soldier. Turning gaia into vanilla BLS is so useless.

The word "contains" here does it mean the vanilla Gaia TFK only or any Gaia TFK monsters?
This would determine whether this skill is bad or acceptable.

If the text uses "is" instead of "contains", then for sure it refers to the vanilla only.

Needing a "Kuriboh" monster is fine, Sphere Kuriboh is still a pretty good card to have in a deck.

Only turns gaia into a 3k vanilla beater, and you have to go -1 t do it. Pretty worthless.
