its possible that these low rarity cards are there so people dont convert the, since rares dont give much. well, on the other hand, that didnt stop people from converting vassal.

could the opponent still inflict life point damage if you tribute your monster whilst they're attacking

if you tribute it during his attack, youll still take the damage since he can attack again cause of monster number changing.

Not useless, this card is meant to combo with Magician's Rod and summons from hand. Magician's Rod + Ancient Rules is a free Dark Magician on field. For Sage's Stone you need to have Dark Magician Girl on field.

Magician's Rod only searches for Dark Magician spell cards not Dark Magician monster card.

You don't get it. Magician's Rod searches this. Tribute Rod to search for the 2 copies. Special summon a copy with Ancient Rules.
