Absorption The effect of equipping a monster.
Advantage (Card)
Advantage (Field)
Advantage (Hand)
AHL A Hero Lives.
Alternate artwork An Illustratio of a card designed differently from the original one.
Archtype A series of cards. Cards within a certain archtype support each other.
Artwork Card illustration.
Attach When an Xyz monster is summoned by using Xys materials, those materials are attached to and put underneath the summoned one.
Attack

B

Term Description
Backrow Backrow is a card which is set or placed upside down.
Banish Placing a card the bannished zone.
Battle position Battle position refers how a card is placed and works. There are two positions: attack position and defense position.
Beatstick A card has high attack and is used mostly to atatck an opponent's monster card. The word is usually used to refer a level 4 or lower level card, a card that requires 1 tribute to summon, and a level 5 or higher card that can be summoned without a tribute due to its effect.
BEWD Blue-Eyes White Dragon
BKSS Because Konami Said So. Used when a ruling is complicated or causes a conflict.
Blitzer Cards such as destroying all monsters on the field (or an opponent controls) and destroying all spell and trap cards on the field ( or an opponent controls).

Brio Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
Broken A card or a strategy that make a significant advantage and will unbalance the game.

CB Crystal Beasts
CcD Cardcar D
CED Compulsory Evacuation Device / Cyber End Dragon / Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End
Continuous effect An effect of a monster card that keep working after being activated.
Cookie Cutter A deck that primarily has versatile cards without a particular theme is called Cookie Cutter.

Term Description
DAD Dark Armed Dragon
DDV Deck Devastation Virus
Dead draw A draw that pulls a useless card.
Deck fattener A card that has an effect of adding cards into a deck.
Deck out A loss that is for that no cards remain in a main deck.
Deck thinner A card that has an effect of pulling a card (or cards) from a main deck.
Discard An act that moving a card from the hand to the graveyard.
Disqualification A penalty that a player lose a game due to violation of rules.
Ditch Discarding a card from the hand.
Double-edged sword A card that a player can either benefit from and be harmed by.

Term Description
EEV Eradicator Epidemic Virus
Engine A card or a combo that helps a player gain hand advantage.
Equip Using an equip spell card for a face-up monster card.
Extra Deck

Term Description
Fetch Adding a card to the hand from a deck.
Field clearing Destroying all or almost all cards on the field.
Flip Switching a monster card from face-down defense position to face-up attack position, Flip summon, Flip effect.
Floater A monster card that give a player card advantage.
Folder fodder A card that a player get for a collection rather than being used in a duel.
FTK First Turn Kill

Gain Increasing a player's life points.
Game loss A penalty given to a player due to rules violation.

Ignition
Inflict Damaging an opponent and decreasing life points.
Infraction Violating rules.
IRS Inferno Reckless Summon

LS Lightsworns
Lucksack Drawing a card that can changes the course of the duel when no card in the hand.

M

Term Description
Mass monster removal A card that can destroy many monster cards all together.
mass spell and trap removal A card that can destroy many spell/trap cards all together.
MC A card that is signed to tell what the card is without actually see. Marked card.
metagame Referring to decks that prevail in the current state of the card game due to those decks' higher winning rate.
mill Moving a card from a deck to the graveyard.
mimic A monster card that can copy other monster's ATK and DEF.
modified card artworks Card illustration that is changed for religious reasons.
Monarch Monster cards that are classified into "Monarch" archetype.
MPB Mecha Phantom Beast

N

Term Description
nab Noob, newbie.
negate Disabling the card effect.
nelf Weakening a monster card.
netdeck A deck that is based on other player's idea.
nomi A monster card that cannot be placed on the field by special summon.
noob Newbie.
nuke Destroying all or almost all cards on the field.
nut The hand wit very nice cards. Winning a duel with that hand.

Term Description
Official proxy Card artwork revealed that is officially revealed.
OTK One Turn Kill.
overextending Placing cards on monster zone or spell/trap zone more than necessary.

pick up a card
PoA Pot of Avarice
PoC Phantom of Chaos
PoD Pot of Duality
pop Destroying a card.
proxy A card that is used instead of a real card.
PSZ Plaguespreader Zombie
public knowledge Information that players can see without any cost: life points, the number of cards in the hand, the graveyard, and a deck.
