Hi, I’m a new player stuck in Platinum with my budget Steam Blackwing deck, and I’m looking for a f2p (I like the challenge!), fun to play deck that could win KoG without too much grind, and would stay relevant for a while. I’m thinking about upgrading Blackwings (it costs plenty of gems and losing to a single Karma Cut sucks, but I love the cards and playstyle), getting Triamids (the art is great and they say it’s very strategic, but l’m not sure about fiddly card effects), or getting Evil Eye (I love the flavour and the deck feels really reliable, with plenty of built-in redundancies). I’m also thinking about postponing the deck building to a season with cheaper meta (I’m too much of a hipster to play BEWD). Any advice?

There is no cheap meta in this game, as a f2p you'll never catch up with the meta, decks take like 8 months to complete and by the time you do so they had been already powercrept 3 or 4 times

Keep improving your current deck, don't fall for the trap of decks looking cheap just look closer at triamid you need 3 times 1 minibox + 1 different minibox = the cost can go up to 20k gems

i am a F2p too i get kog every season (day 10-29) i plays a new deck every season like that i never get bored, i have almost every single metadeck but with cheap cards (2* of everything)

i played since day 1 the game has been released, i can tell u this: u will never catch the meta if u try to invest all ur gems, that's why choose carfully ur cards and ur decks.

I need a cheap fusion deck. Not for competitive, i just need it for those "summon fusion" quests in gx world. any tips?

Use the hero monsters jaden gives you, add like 2 of each of them + the respective fusions + 3 polimerization and master of fusion

Best 2 level 4 xyz monster? Also a good 2 level 3 xyz? Don't know that many xyz monsters.

Depends on what kind of deck you play. For rank 4 xyz I'd say abyss dweller, steelswarm roach and malevolent sin

I haven't play a deck capable of using rank 3 xyz so I have no idea which ones are good

I am a completely F2P player -- what deck should I invest in?

I used to play shiranui but after the banlist the deck sucked so I started a new account to get gems for another deck.

If you pretend to keep being a f2p player then build a deck that is out of the radar: witchcraft, triamid, FL, lunalight, weather painter, valks, etc.

Definitely don't buy super heavy samurai, digital bug or aromage.

I'm running a Dark Magician deck, but I cant figure out good traps to run. I have Magician Nav, Drowning mirror force and Mirror wall, but am looking for 2 others. Any suggestions?

If you want Traps in particular, you might be interested in Black Illusion. It will protect your BMs from being destroyed in battle and from other card effects until the end of the turn.

Oh god no that trap is very bad, seriously there's a reason why no DM plays it.

Stick with the usual traps: floodgate, karma, canadia, etc.

Try to replace your battle traps for ones that can be activated at any point of your opponent's turn

Does anyone use a Red-Eyes Slash Dragon deck? Is it not good enough to be a tier deck?

The best RESD deck uses red eyes fusion, Black metal dragon and the red eyes gearfried all at 3 copies and is pretty average, you can KoG with it but so can do cheaper decks.

If you were planning to use only 3 structure decks you'll have a pretty hard time, trust me I tried

Red eyes is not a tier deck atm. You can still kog with it but needs patience and carefull plays. Ideally you will need re gearfreed x3, blast with chain x3. However, if you are a new player you can try a 100% free to play red eyes deck that is in the page 2 of comment section of "New player guide: What packs to buy first? [Dec 2020]". Quite good for begginers and can get you fast to legend rank.

any idea how to improve my heavy samurai deck without using gems?

reddit said it was a good f2p deck but I can't even get consecutive wins in platinum and I have no more gems

Well, first step is to never trust reddit.

There are other good F2P decks that are better and don't require many UR cards to perform well.

The problem with Superheavy is that it cannot afford to run backrow cards (which are very important in competitive dueling), which means it's more suitable to be a casual deck against NPCs than in Ranked.

I suggest trying to build other F2P decks instead, like Aromage or Lunalight.
