Great for stalling because of its high defense, good self-protection, and ability to battle while in defense position.
Boost Invoked Cocytus’ ATK with equips and other effects to make its hitting more of a threat.

Invocation

Normal Summon Aleister the Invoker and search Invocation. Then use Invocation to banish Aleister and a WATER monster from either graveyard to make Invoked Cocytus. This summoning can be used to remove your opponent’s graveyard interactions.

Yes, but neither Superheavy Samurai nor this card is the first.

There is a card from DM era called Total Defense Shogun, that's the first card able to attack while in Defense Position.

They're not the second either, after Total Defense Shogun there's Elemental Hero Rampart Blaster in GX.

Good for basic splashing into merlanteans or any water focused deck
