Contatore | Dinosaur Kingdom | Jan 28 |
A comment from Contatore:
Since the release of Survival's End, Dinos have been one of my favorite decks and I'm proud to show that this version I created can be used still now to reach KOG.
The major threat for this deck has been Shiranui, the rest hasn't been a huge hurdle, but it's true that with so many dangerous decks around a single misplay can be costly.
Anyway, this deck has many tricks to catch the opponent by surprise and get over the strongest decks so there's no match that is impossible to win. By using the combination of Babycerasaurus and Survival's End you can adapt to your opponent's strategies and overturn a duel in your favor. Generally, I pick either what I need to synchro summon or I summon Hyper Hammerhead if there's a monster I can't destroy.

A comment from nihil.yuri:
KOG this month was relatively difficult. With my old Blue-Eyes synchro deck, I was able to get to legendary 5, but I was always floating between 3, 4 and 5. The deck urgently needs a good Synchro LV 10. Anyway, with Dragunity I had no problems.
In my view, the deck is a little inconsistent, so if you don't go out with Senatus or equipment you might have some good problems. So we use 1 card of consonance that helps the deck flow (2 copies is too much). We have some generic back row removers, you can easily OTK your opponent with this deck.
The skill is good, but not extremely necessary, ideally another skill that makes the deck super consistent.

A comment from skyyy:
That was the most consistent build that I could test. The skill is Level Augmentation so you can easily synchro summon level 10.
If you can save the skill for later use, I would recommend that, but your main priority usually should be summoning Ascalon as early as possible.

A comment from Messo98:
This deck has the firepower to beat any other meta deck, however, it’s really fragile so it’s important to have plenty of cards to protect your monsters like a Forbidden lance or Dragunity lance.
I didn’t want to spend any money so I only bought 1 structure deck, if I had the chance I would swap the Militums for Senatuses.

Coach | Destiny Draw | Jan 8 |
A comment from Coach:
Gravekeepers do well in the current meta. Necrovalley is formidable against GY-reliant decks (especially Shiranui, Darklords, Triamids, Magician Girls, Crystron, Vendread). Spy, Head and Noble possess useful floating effects, ideal to generate a solid line of defense, summon Oracle (very powerful card against Subterror, Dark Cavalry, Black Eyes and Cocytus), or work as tribute fodder with Descendant (our only removal). Spiritualist is only at 2x since it can be searched with Throne and it’s useless without Necrovalley. Canadia and Wall of D are used to slow down or cripple the opponent monsters, other than attract/escape removals when Necrovalley is active on the field. Supernaturalist is the boss monster, for obvious reasons. Quintet rarely sees play but it’s a good tech against the occasional stall.
Destiny Draw proved to be the best skill to draw into Necrovalley, specific spell/traps or potential combo pieces, I wouldn’t recommend any other skill but maybe Sealed Tombs or Grit.
Kiteroid and Cosmic Cyclone are excellent side deck options.
At present, Dark Magician and Blackwings are the only strongly negative matchups; while the former avails of the most powerful Dark Magical Circle, the latter can be especially deadly with Raikiri when they go second.
Ritual Beasts, Blue-Eyes, Thunder Dragons, and Desperado BD can be relatively easy to deal with depending on both initial hands and coin toss. Neutral matchup with Invoked Elementsabers (Purgatorio hurts!), Fortune Ladies (card advantage after Water can be troublesome) and Cyber Dragon.

Ghost | Destiny Draw | Jan 22 |
A comment from Ghost:
So much to say about this deck. It goes back to when I used it in Duel Generations. There’s a lot to it, so here’s a heads up now before you get into it.
It’s not cheap. At all.
Necrovalley is unrealistically helpful with any deck that requires graveyard movement which is great in the current Meta. (Shiranui big time)
Throne helps search and thin deck as well as Spy which pairs great with Spiritualist as long as you have Necrovalley. Throne also can help get Supernaturalist out if you have Necrovalley and need to double summon to activate Spiritualist.
Descendant was for tribute-cost removal, Headman was great when needed to help Descendant’s removal or Spiritualist’s fusion.
Quintet was for stall decks but wasn’t used.
Lastly, the two trap holes were key as well. TTH is dead if you pull it late (late add anyway) and Void was the dark horse of this deck. Helped a lot against Invokers, Fortune Ladies, Black Rose Dragon, etc.
Overall, this deck kept me in numerous duels that I normally thought would have been lost solely due to the revival/search tactics of the deck. Faced about 5-7 rank down duels and luckily never lost one. Very consistent and won my first KOG opportunity against Dark Magician’s. DM isn’t a very favorable matchup for this deck and neither are Blackwings because of constant banish removal that Necrovalley + Supernaturalist can’t cover.

Dorotheus | Sealed Tombs | Jan 30 |
A comment from Dorotheus:
Simple deck idea; Banish the same card and have a big 4000/4000 Monster. But the consistency comes from Golden Castle of Stromberg, giving access to the special summons from the deck. I fully admit the early climb with this deck was people just not reading or knowing what Castle was. I run 2 hate cards that would normally be the side deck cards in events but since duel links are primarily a best of 1 format, running only one of each in the mainboard works fine. Skull Invitation sometimes just pushes damage and punishes Grass decks, and Soul Absorption works well enough with what I'm already doing but can stave off other decks that rely on recycling and banishing cards.

A comment from ¤》MPREACH《¤:
It's just hard grind this season.
As you can see, I dont have a third Purg so there are times when I have to stall with Cocutyus or Molehu in order to finish the opponent's traps, so that I can Purg KO easily. Darklords with Lancea are a nightmare, unfortunately.

A comment from ⓛㅅⓛ:
This is the same old Elemental Invokers. 1 thing to note is you can replace chalice with any other back row as I didn’t feel it did much for me. I would suggest Canadia, Treacherous Trap Hole, Forbidden Lance or even Spear Ebola. My toughest matchups were Dark Magicians and Dark Lords though they were surprising uncommon on the ladder albeit tier 1...

SavageJudge | Sorcery Conduit | Jan 30 |
A comment from SavageJudge:
Notes on the Deck:
3 Invoker Required: No Exceptions
2 Lapauila because free Navigation negate. DM can’t win without DM’s triggering Circle
Molehu should get hit. Book of Moon in the TCG was at 1 for the longest time and Molehu is that card on crack.
1 Galaxy 1 Cyclone to bait the Navigation and other rogue decks like Odion Trap decks. Galaxy is great as a 2 for 1 late game.
Sphere Kuriboh necessary for rogue matchups and even against DM and Darklord. Great against Red-Eyes since it doesn’t target.
Floodgate > Canadia because it doesn’t target and setting monsters is free because of Purgatrio. If a Shiranui Synchro goes FD and they can’t clear, Purgatrio smiles with delight.

L1bberator | Sealed Tombs | Jan 11 |
A comment from L1bberator:
Sealed Tomb is very strong against Shiranui and Darklords, which are all the hype right now. Struggles versus Ritual Beasts.
Silent Magician is a really powerful opener. Look for the next-level sacrifices to get the Lvl 8 out (strong move against Dark Magician decks). If they get their fusion monster(s) out, protect it with sphere (side note: sphere does not protect Scrap Goblin if it's face-up; you'll have to sphere the first attack while it's face-down).
I went with the Dark Invoker as the synchro is just for the turn 3 OTK with Aleister and sometimes it's good to banish their dark monster and slow the game down.

Silverchair | Miracle Fusion Time! | Jan 17 |
A comment from Silverchair:
So I played Heroes to get my KOG. I think this meta needed a hero, so I’m proud to present my KOG Deck
The most important thing is to GET TO STRATOS.
Stratos is amazing because it pops backrow and sets up your combos.
There are two ways to get to Stratos hard drawing him, or sending him to the grave with neos fusion, Vylon, or Blazeman. And then either triggering solid solider or buddy force to special summon him from the grave.
Vylon is better than blazeman, because you can still special summon after using its affect to send, also there’s a cool combo where you summon solid soldier special vylon, send Stratos, use mask change on soldier for Dian, special Stratos, search a hero or pop backrow then banish the solid soldier in grave to add polymerization, fusion summon your Adoration with Vylon and Stratos. This leave you with an open spot for Dian to special another Stratos when it destroys a monster. 1800, 2800, 2800.
Neos package
I opted for only one neos and two neos fusion because I hoped to never draw neos and as soon as I got Stratos in grave I new I was off to the races. I still played two neos fusion monsters because I could always bring back neos instead of Stratos and fuse with him again with cards like buddy force or solid soldier. However please note that it’s by no means required to have two neos fusions, instead you could play something like Anki which can be brought out with masked change on vylon, or Adoration.
Miracle Fusion Time!
Solid skill that essentially pops out Tornado. Miracle fusion can’t be used for Adoration so save your tornado for the miracle fusion play.
I opted not to play miracle fusion in the main because the only good target was tornado, and the extra deck space was incredibly tight. Plus miracle fusion is a brick 9/10 best to control when you draw it.
Cosmic Cyclone was incredible vs dark magician, invoked, dark lords and anything with backrow. Having it trigger miracle fusion time made it even better.
Worst matchup was Yubel... I just couldn’t kill it.
Otherwise this deck can tangle with the best of them.

Mainliner | Wounded Hero | Jan 18 |
A comment from Mainliner:
Stratos is here and takes HERO's to a completely different level in terms of fun and competition.
Plasma is a must, at first I didn't use him; but I started to play him when I found full boards in most of my duels, thanks to Wounded Hero and Solid Soldier.
Since Extra Deck is so tight and Adoration is such a beast, I don't think Trinity is worth to run right now in a more focused mask change deck than a fusion one. A very circumstantial win condition, more like a dead slot card most of the times. And Blast is awesome!

Darkness | Neo Space! | Jan 18 |
A comment from Darkness:
This deck was completely used to go from Legend 1 to KOG in one sitting.
Beat Cyberdragons? : Easily beats Cyberdragons. If you are able to use Cosmic Cyclone, then use it immediately on their backrow.
Beat Darklords? : Beats Darklords 90% of the time, in my speedrush to KOG never lost to Darklords. Use Cavalry and Neos Knight.
Beat Shiranui?: Most of the time you easily beat shiranui, if you get one canadia or are able to have a/d changer in your grave and have Cavalry out.
Beat Invoker/Elementsaber?: 50-80% of the time you can beat them. Depends on your hand and how you play, Cosmic Cyclone palace if you are able to.
These were the decks that I went against the most.
