Skill Details

Play 1 level 4 or lower Cubic monster from your hand.
The ATK of the monster you played with this Skill is equal to its original level x 500.
If the monster is destroyed, you lose Life Points equal to its original level x 500.
This Skill can only be used if you begin the duel with a Deck/Extra Deck that contain no monsters other than "Cubic" monsters.
This Skill can only be used once per turn and twice per Duel.

There was an instance when I didn't receive any damage when the Cubic that I summoned with this skill got destroyed. I still have the replay saved, and even after watching it multiple times I have no idea what happened.

probably you had Cubic Dharma on the field.

You take no battle damage from attacks involving your "Cubic" monsters.

I honestly feel like someone really hates Cubics at Konami. Between this skill and Seeds requiring all cubic cards to even be used, no Vulcan Dragni, and You Don’t Deserve to Exist requires and opponent to control the equip spell, it feels like they broke Aigami’s kneecaps and them pushed him down a flight of stairs for giggles.

I’m not saying this as an 🔥 to anyone, but it is ridiculous.

Just wait for a few more years. Konami will release 1-2 Cubic core cards per box and they will become meta.

Crimson Nova Trinity will probably be the cover card of a box. And Crimson Nova will be an SR in that box.

Aside from those additions, the only way to truely make Hokai playable is to make Vijam generic and obtainable via a box (making the skill give you a total of six Vijam which would be pretty great I think). Vijam being generic would help so much.

I can’t seem to get it to activate? I’ve got nothing in the extra and all cubic monsters in the deck. Does it also mean I can’t have non cubic spells and just doesn’t specify?

Nevermind I figured it out. The skill should say “only cubic cards” but instead says “only cubic monsters” when having a copy of dark world dealings in the deck means the skill can not activate.
