In Duel Links you can level-up your characters to obtain rewards like deck slots, gold, and most importantly gems and new cards. Some powerful cards are exclusively found at higher level rewards, therefore a lot of players want to level up quickly to get them. To level-up you will need to gain a lot of EXP, this guide is to help you with gaining EXP efficiently.
Level Cap is the max level a Character can obtain before he does not gain more EXP therefore cannot level-up further because the next level does not exist at the moment. The level cap was originally at level 30 but was raised over time, with each new level bringing with it more rewards and more exclusive cards.
Now that we are able to multiply duel results, including exp, up to X3 we are now able to farm event tokens much quicker. This X3 can also be used on the Gate Event Duelists themselves like the current Zane event. With the Bonue EXP campaign ongoing right now, dueling Lvl 10 Zane with X3 multiplier is a sure 2250 exp for the cost of practically nothing especially after you have finished the current event rewards. Making this the perfect opportunity for players to gain lots of exp quickly.
The only downside to this is that because Zane is in the gate, he cannot be auto-duelled making the exp farm a bit more tedious.
The best way to farm Lvl 10 Zane would be to use a deck that is capable of dealing massive amounts of damage in a single turn to quicken your duels. You can disregard using protection and disruption cards because Lvl 10 Zane cannot really harm you in any way, unless you do not put a monster on the field.
Reward Multiplier is a feature added to Duel Links on 2018 July. It allows players to duel 1 duelist and gain x2 or x3 of the EXP of a normal duel. Although this boost is not free and using the boost will count as dueling multiple standard duelists at the same time. For example if you choose the x3 boost, 3 standard duelists will be depleted from your world.
For these reasons, it is better to duel standard duelists 1 by 1 if you want to get more rewards. But it is better to use boosts if you want to gain lots of EXP quickly.
Using Boosts is like dueling 1 standard duelist with the stakes of dueling 2 or 3. Winning the duel will count as winning 3 standard duelists, but losing the duel will be like losing to 3. Because of this it is best to know the standard duelist's deck and know which ones you can beat with ease and avoid more difficult ones to minimize loss. When auto-dueling, using an auto-duel deck which are simple for the A.I. to understand is recommended.
Vagabond and Vagrant are the biggest sources of EXP from a single duel.
The Vagabond uses decks from high-ranking duelists and the EXP he gives depends on the level of challenge he is set to. Sometimes after dueling the Vagabond you are then able to send him to your friends, you can also set the challenge you want to give them, helping them gain EXP. In this sense, your friends can also send you Vagabonds to help you level-up.
The Vagrant is a paid item from the shop. 1 purchase of The Vagrant will spawn 6 Vagrants in your in your game, each of them giving you 5x to 20x more EXP than a standard duelist. Unlike the Vagabond, they use decks from low-ranking duelists, making your EXP farming easier and less likely to lose.
Sometimes there would be mini-events that boost EXP gained for a limited time. These can greatly help you gain EXP especially when they occur the same time as an event which can give you more legendary duelists to duel. The Vagabond and The Vagrant are also boosted, multiplying their already high EXP output. If you plan to purchase The Vagrant it is best to do it during these mini-events to maximize EXP.
