I think it should work. Lava Golem is under your control, but it is still your opponent's card.

So after using this card several times vs the AI to test, they won't ever attack while you control it unless the attack does less than 1000 points, or unless they can win the duel that turn.

lava golem + massivemorph + enchated javelin + golden apples + inferno tempest + union scramble = draw 6 cards, banish xyz then special summon with union scramble + 6k token + dd draw + deck thining + no monsters left in their deck
