Equip only to a monster you control. During your Main Phase: You can make all monsters your opponent currently controls lose ATK equal to half the equipped monster's ATK, until the end of this turn (even if this card leaves the field). If this card is sent to the GY while equipped to a monster: You can pay 1000 LP; return this card to your hand. You can only use each effect of "Archfiend's Staff of Despair" once per turn.
Hmm I’d play this with dark magician maybe force them to use their mst on it instead of my circle, not very consistent but it but will have to do. We need more bait cards like this so that otks decks will have to actually think harder on what cards they should destroy instead of just steam rolling over control decks.
How can you can stop an otk when this card can only be activated in your main phase and until the end of your turn? Also, as already said, none, even rookies, wont let magician circle.

well the card have card advantage mechanic that you can abuse on alongside Re gearfried and armory call, with notable mention slash dragon
One of very few Equip Spells that affect opponent's monster instead of the equipped monster (although it does use the equipped monster's ATK as reference for the effect)
