1 Level 5 or higher "D/D" monster + 1 "D/D" monster If another "D/D" monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your field, while you control this monster (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 "D/D" monster in your GY; Special Summon it. You can only use this effect of "D/D/D Flame High King Genghis" once per turn. Once per your turn, when a Spell/Trap Card, or its effect, is activated (Quick Effect): You can negate the activation.
Are their unlisted limits to this card's ability to negate spells, traps, and they’re effects?
I constantly find myself without the opportunity to trigger the negate ability.
Some examples are verses Champion’s vigilance, Abyss Script-Rise of the Abyss king, and Cosmic Cyclone.
I know Cosmic Cyclone has a cost, so that might make sense. But, I don’t understand why the others - and many similar - fail to be negated.
Further, anything played directly from the hand also seems to bypass the negation.
The text seems to indicate any spell, trap, or effect - be it played from hand, flipped on field, triggered in the grave, or even with a cost can be negated.
