2+ Cyberse monsters Once per turn, before damage calculation, if your monster this card points to battles an opponent's monster with higher ATK than it: You can make that monster unable to be destroyed by that battle, also you take no battle damage from that battle. After that damage calculation, have this card or 1 monster it points to gain ATK equal to the ATK of that battled opponent's monster, until the end of this turn.
I've had this thing failing to protect the monster it points to simply from the opponent using quick-spell/trap that modifies ATK (no negate present). Does this mean the battle entered damage calculation step immediately as soon as ATK modification happened and thus, causing Encode Talker to miss its timing?
Just to clarify, my opponent's monster still had higher ATK than mine. They only increased theirs further.
My opponent probably waited until the damage step to activate Concentrating Current, but I didn't get any chance to activate Encode Talker's effect before the damage step despite fulfilling the condition of having the linked monster with lower ATK than the opponent's.
hmm the card does say its effect works at damage calculation, damage calc is supposed to be part of the damage step yet it's something that happens after it. if they used cc at damage step then the higher atk condition is still met and encode effect should still work

Nope you forget the skills. Skill will add arrows to link cards to make them easier to use. You will be able to add 3 arrows to any link once per turn and 3 times per duel.
Due to its arrow positions, players of this card basically have to always summon this card on their left EMZ, to be able to make use of both the bottom and bottom right arrows.
If you suspect your opponent is going to play this card, summon your Link of your right EMZ (which would be their left EMZ). That would mean even if they still summon this card, this card would point to one less zone, as the bottom right arrow would point to nothing.
