There's no search in that deck. Genex Undine or Buzzsaw Shark targeting a level 7 Mermail are the two best ways to search Citadel Whale. Nimble Sunfish is ok.
Sure, you can use this for cards that have an effect when they're summoned. I think there are even some Performapal monsters that can be used for that.

You can't, the effect of Skills that automatically activates at the start of the duel, is applied all the time.
In Holy Guard's case, the effect is automatically applied whenever you would take battle damage during your own turn. You can't choose, it's more akin to a continuous effect.

Not by itself. But if you have a pendulum scale 6 or more and run a lot of light monsters that are level 5 or more (within the other scale) it ends up helping.

I despise this card, not because of what it does. Shark as a cpu keeps using it and it takes forever to load, even with auto duel. I really am tired of that stupid animation showing both cards, one at a time, both in the graveyard and again on the hand. I already saw the cards ffs wtf is it showing both in the hand again.
