Do I need to buy packs?

I just started playing yesterday.I completed tutorial and duel training school.
Now I don't know what to do. Should I be buying packs or should I battle with the given deck. I have nearly 2000 gems

Spam all your gems on abyssal encounters and rage of the forest. People will love you

you never need to buy packs.
Just stick with your starter deck. Those 500 attack monsters are really good.

if your looking for generally good cards i would say ultimate rising. if your looking for a themed deck then go with what other people are saying. saying that the new destiny heros deck and the legendary warriors deck are both pretty good to start with then add cards from other boxes like ultimate rising.

luckily for you you started at the perfect time,with no hestitation use every single gem you have on the new box,you can easilly make a tier 1 kog deck called alliens

Why buy packs? Is it not better to target the deck you want to build and spend on getting the cards?

If 2000 gems i would say build Hazy Flame beatdown deck.

Yes, You will need to buy packs because you won't get the good cards with doing so, I recommend blades of spirits six sams is a decent deck to get you started.
