easy tips is to find a consistent way to beat a lvl 40 LD and keep doing it.

I believe getting hunting grounds is a drop-skill, which means you will get the skill randomly in a duel against a Legendary Duelist. If you really like to use Mai against Legendary Duelists, you should get it eventually.
