Riryoku is for farm purposes only as it is terrible in PvP due to abundant kuriboh and ECon. Half Shut is usually to protect a, monster who really needs to survive in order toto acitivate a relevant effect (think guardian statue or gemini). I'd go with Kuriboh since it has much more general defensive applications.
