I think the problem lies in the counter trap. Konami made mistakes by only put banish 2 fire monsters from GY instead of banish 2 laval monsters from GY to add it to your hand cause it's supposed to used for laval deck

A card game that REALLY strives toward balance should have all the decks as strong as each other. If there are like only 3 to 5 deck that dominate the game composed of more than 20 types of decks then that is the complete opposite of balance.
Dark magician already have strong cards like Magic circle and Navigation.
A card like Apprentice Illusion Magician should have instead been made to support weak decks like time wizard-baby dragon like the other guy mentionned as an example.
Lol, you obviously don't know what the difference is between trying to make a game balance even if you have a chance to fail and actually doing nothing.
Here Konami didn't even TRY to release the appropriate support cards for Baby dragon archetype like the previous 3 or 4 guys said. Instead we keep seeing supports for Dark Magician and other overpowered decks.
The issue is, they didn't even TRIED
