Amazoness, SSA with water monsters and ocean field spells, and even MH with the destiny heroes are pretty much character decks themselves. Especially Amazoness with Mai. I ran into a lot of people playing the character decks and only about 3 or 4 fur hires.

I really enjoyed the Character decks, they made the event worthwhile imo. Aside from all the Fur Hire mesh running rampant, I feel the event was quite nice too. I did face quite a few Fur Hire early on, but I lost only a couple of duels since I was equipped with Chalice and E-Con...Majesty was also a fun card against Jinzo :D

To first anon: Both. The player use the best they can and the event hadn't real restrictions to enable diversity.

To Valencia: Eh not really.
Yes SSA had synergy with Mako and MH with Aster, but would the latter have been played w/o Masked Change? To Amazoness: Not 1 deck was with Mai(only one with her was HHG). Else only Meta decks and no character decks(I played Tea Amazoness so well...)...

Yes Valencia complete the event with her mask change meta, of cse he don't see a problem. I was using muto gandora, noone was playing that, most mutos are p2w sil mag decks. I agreed with Xenon the event can be much better if they actually thought it out. They shd held more of these special duel event tho.

My point is that a good portion of those decks are cards that the characters would use in the anime: d-heroes, water monsters, Amazoness. Stuff like Anki and SSA is a small part of it. Ran into a few other Asters, but I don't know if they had Anki. The fusions are still good, so it is possible. Saw one Mai with Amazoness. It seems like it is usually Odion with trap hell that uses that now.

I suck just because I didn't use the decks you like. Ok, whatever. But since it is not loaded up with floodgates, extra cosmic cyclones, a chalice, and those ugly palezoic things like almost every other d-hero/Anki deck I see on here (not that I think those are wrong), I'd like to think it took a bit more effort to pull off. Also, I'm not a guy.

I ran into some interesting character decks: 2 Syrus with roids, Bandit Keith machine deck with cipher soldier, Chazz with an ojama stall deck that almost decked me out, Joeys with Red eyes decks and fusions for it, a Kaiba with a blue eyes deck, a couple Arkana with DM decks.

Keith sounds like the rarest here. I would like him playing his barrel dragons of course. Thats the way char deck should be, not just put in required cards and blend the rest with meta, making it cheap and uninteresting. My two cents.

Valencia I don't blame meta players. I blame the devs about being lazy to restrict it more and make it a better Special duel one so that the character's cards/theme matter more.
When they make a PvP event and then even a theme one, they should do it right!
@Big Ben: Sounds like a demanding one(as I think from Gandora) as he can be very easy countered(1 pala and you are done).

I know. I just hated it once when someone called me a meta slave once a while back when they saw my deck. When I use a meta deck, it will be because I think it looks cool. I never touched aliens, sylvans, sea stealth, etc. because I don't like using something that looks ugly to me. Same thing with the palezoic trap cards. They look like something out of my nightmares. Agree about the devs.

I kid though, I play a lot of meta because they hit a nostalgic note...Heroes are my favorite Archetype, yet I don't play them competitively in DL at the moment; I have Fur Hire but they are quite boring to play. I am waiting on the next minibox to see what I spend my gems on.

I just don't like how they look. That is all. But I win a lot more against fur hires and amazoness than aliens. It is almost always that a-cell stuff making all of my monsters have 0 attack on the very first turn and a telepath, and then it is over.

And it is the same thing with SSA. They usually have it all on the first turn with me having nothing to stop it, and the Makos yell at me. How is it that this and aliens are so much harder for me than fur hires, amazoness, and even heroes!?

SB is a life time waste tbh. Nothing against the deck/playstyle itself(even with Fate being OP), but it takes so long to play(against)...
Aliens... damn those old times with my beloved GB against those... Yeah even against MH I won with my GBs!(not eerytime, but it was a very tactical game on both sides). But sadly, against SB/SSA(even now not anymore around)/Amazoness my GB can't compete as
