Yeah I had this same issue with it just now, I was at 1700 LP and needed to use to win the game with a tribute summon, only to result in losing due to not being able to use it.
They really need to fix this, free spell/trap zone, monster zone, and life points ready to go and it won't activate...like the other anon said, it could make or break your game.
